Bistrot Victoires

Bistrot Victoires

This neighborhood bistrot/café is a favorite of mine.
Yes, the food is good and reasonable, nothing fancy,
but it is not the food that makes it a favorite.

...It is all the friends whose company I have enjoyed
over the years as well as the staff and the charming ambiance

We need to meet again...

That espresso machine looks like it could walk right over the table, serve you cafe au lait and wish you Bonne Journee Genie.

Hello Genie,
We can empathise completely with this feeling that one has a favourite place that one returns to often not because of the food or drink but because of the warmth of the welcome, the feeling of belonging, the happy memories of past times there and the care and attention one is given. We have several such places in Budapest......but none with such a splendid coffee machine as this one!

I can see why it would be a favorite simply by elegance alone -- it looks warm and lovely. But having friendly people just makes is perfect!

That espresso machine does look like something out of Star Wars.

They certainly keep the equipment nice and shiny too!

It looks delightful! Did someone actually write that beautifully scripted menu on the board by hand?

Alain, c'est marrant! R2D2, indeed!

Joe, it really does look almost like a robot (as stated by Alain)

Jeanie, it is a warm setting and always seems to be full of customers.

William, and I would love to have one like this but alas no room. It probably costs a fortune

Dear Jane and Lance, I thought of you two when I posted this. You have so many inviting places in Budapest and the party starts when the two of you arrive.

Tahiti, et il y a aussi un bar de zinc.

Alexa, yes, and being French, they never rush the patrons

Anne, they do have another board. This one does appear to be hand lettered, but I am not sure that it is re-written each day.

Randy, indeed.

Jack, pack your bags.

Bises,
Genie
