Yes, the food is good and reasonable, nothing fancy, 

but it is not the food that makes it a favorite.  

...It is all the friends whose company I have enjoyed 

over the years as well as the staff and the charming ambiance

At Le Jardin du Petit Palais Café, 

the placard appears quite charming in French.

So many of the platforms are changing with  "improvements" so it is said.

This station opened on October 19, 1904 as part of the first section of line 3.

The glass walls that are being added certainly contribute to the safety of the passengers, 

but I prefer to see the seats, the signs, and even the "framed" posters as they are,

unobstructed by the barriers to the tracks.

Promo! Des orchidées

Orchids

A street-side display of flowers is typical in all parts of Paris.  The orchids so carefully protected sous cellophane are a promise of colorful plants for months to come.  The prices seen here are comparable to what one might expect to pay at home.  If you are going to be in Paris for a week or so, a pot of these orchids would make you feel right at home.

Thinking of my daddy who had 

a greenhouse full of these for most of my life.

As fond as I am of the handwritten chalkboard menus of Paris, this one leaves me cold.  The English translation combined with the perfect lettering abandons the charm of the handwritten French.

If you are fond of seafood you will love this restaurant devoted to shrimp, fish, prawns, lobster, and most importantly (to me) oysters!  We were there for a midday meal of oysters and to sample their featured fish of the day.  I was not disappointed and as I type about the salty sea flavor of these delightful mollusks, my mouth is watering.  At home I might have been mixing a coctail sauce, but here they needed not a single seasoning or spice. 

 

 

The next trip to this bistrot, I will just have an assortment of oysters...

with a side of baguette.

Will soon begin in Paris and in all of France.  The dates for the winter sales in Paris are from the 9th of January and ending on the 12th of February.  

If you will be in St. Barth's or St. Martin in the French West Indes 

the dates are different as are those of Réunion.  

In Paris you will find les Soldes again in the summer.

This famous Paris brasserie has an address on Boulevard Saint-Germain

but there is back entrance on Rue du Jardinet as seen here.

The weather worsened as the day progressed, 

but the rain made for moody photos on the rain-soaked, cobbled streets.
