Artiste à l'oeuvre

an artist at work?

The Viaduc des Arts houses many
artists ranging from design artists, textiles,
furniture-making, printmaking,
parapluies (umbrellas), musical instruments,
jewelry, porcelain, and more.

The studios have full glass fronts which
allow the flâneur a clear view of the studios within.

Le Train Bleu

Le Train Bleu

High above the platforms of Gare de Lyon
sits this elegant restaurant, Le Train Bleu.

Although the menu is rather expensive,
one can enjoy the ambiance with a glass
of wine or Champagne.

Église Saint-Antoine-des-Quinze-Vingts

Église Saint-Antoine-des-Quinze-Vingts
the primary organ

This great organ comes from the instrument built
by the renown Aristide Cavaille-Coll in 1894 for the mansion of Baron Espée.
It was moved from the Baron's residence on
Avenue Bois de Boulogne to Saint-Antoine in 1909.

Like many churches, there is a second organ,
a practice organ for the choir, which I will show you another time.

Port de l'Arsenal

Port de l'Arsenal

From certain Bastille Métro platforms
you can see the boats moored in Port de l'Arsenal.

This warm September day reveals a business meeting
on the deck of a boat.  The three look as if
this is "business as usual."

Église Saint-Roch

The candles in this side chapel
of Église Saint Roch
may not capture your attention
but I wonder about the image
of a young woman crying that appears
in the upper right corner.

a ghost or my imagination?

L'or de septembre

September "gold"

There is something to look forward
to with the changing of seasons
in Paris.

This is the first glimpse of gold.
It will be another month before the Ginko leaves turn.

Parc de la Turlure

Officially known as the square Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet
but better known as Parc de la Turlure,
this is a small but charming park in Montmartre,
located right behind the Sacré-Coeur Basilica.

This site was once occupied by the moulin de Turlure,
one of more than 30 windmills that once stood on Butte Montmartre.
The park has a beautiful pergola and this cascade fountain

Sacré Coeur et Sainte-Trinité

Paris skyline

From the rooftop of Printemps, looking north/northeast,
one can see a soft palette of colors
in the outline of Sacré Coeur
and Sainte-Trinité

(The tower to the left of Sacré Coeur
is the basilica's bell tower)

Le Consulat

Restaurant - le Consulat

This bistro is adorned in deep red and housed in a building
which has likely been in place on Butte Montmartre for nearly 400 years.

Beside the tourists of Montmartre there is much beauty,
history, and architecture to be enjoyed.
Enjoy the views and wander the back streets.

Le Théâtre du Merveilleux - CDP THEME DAY (Curiosities)

Le Théâtre du Merveilleux

In the heart of the Bercy neighborhood,
wine warehouses built by Gustave Eiffel's apprentice
host thousands of objects, among them ancient artifacts,
fairground, theater and music hall items and
 "curiosities"

Today I join City Daily Photo bloggers from around the world
