Jardin des Plantes - un perroquet vert?

Jardin des Plantes

One would think that this green parrot (?) had escaped
from an enclosure, a pen.  However, we sighted
an entire flock of them, numbering 12 or more.
They enjoyed the November berries immensely.

Is Paris temperate enough to support
what I imagine to be a tropical species?

UPDATE:
"If you have ever spotted apple-green birds the size of a turtledove with bright red bills during one of your strolls around Paris, you are neither colorblind nor sleepwalking. You merely sighted one of the many rose-ringed parakeets (Psittacula krameri) that have made Paris and its vast suburbs their home."
You can read more here.

Église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine

Église de la Madeleine

This photo was taken only a few days
after the terrorist attack in November 2015.

It seemed a good place to be.

L'Escalier d'Hôtel Biron

Hôtel Biron was closed several years for renovations,
opening again in November 2015.

This elegant mansion, built between 1727 and 1737
houses over 200 works of August Rodin.
The grounds are exquisite and a befitting backdrop
for large Rodin bronzes.

Paleontology Museum

I have seen the photographs and peered through the impressive
windows, but sadly I have never been inside to see the skeletons

It is on my list to accomplish this year

Promenade Plantée (Coulée verte René-Dumont)

This unique "elevated" green walkway is situated on the tracks
that took trains from Bastille to Verenne-Saint-Maur.
Beneath the arches of this viaduct are 64 arcade
of artists' ateliers, galleries, workshops, and more.

You can walk the "promenade greenway" in one direction
and then walk back along the glass fronts of the Viaduc des Arts.

Jardin de l'Acclimatation

This pigeon house (pigeonnier) in Jardin de l'Acclimatation
was used during the siege of Paris in 1870
to send messages by carrier pigeon.

I do not know if pigeons are in
residence there today

Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris

This eastern facade of Notre Dame
is not the image of the postcards and souvenir shops,
but its graceful Gothic architecture is beautiful.

The garden is much quieter than the western side
and a lovely place to sit in the shade of the trees and
watch the children play.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - The Beauty of Simplicity

The Beauty of Simplicity

Only a few days after the November 13 bombings in Paris
we found this simple phrase with a scattering of wet leaves.
I could not have staged a more poignant shot.

Today I join City Daily photobloggers around the world
in Theme Day. Click here to see their take on
