Jardin des Plantes - un perroquet vert?

Jardin des Plantes

One would think that this green parrot (?) had escaped
from an enclosure, a pen.  However, we sighted
an entire flock of them, numbering 12 or more.
They enjoyed the November berries immensely.

Is Paris temperate enough to support
what I imagine to be a tropical species?

UPDATE:
"If you have ever spotted apple-green birds the size of a turtledove with bright red bills during one of your strolls around Paris, you are neither colorblind nor sleepwalking. You merely sighted one of the many rose-ringed parakeets (Psittacula krameri) that have made Paris and its vast suburbs their home."

Galerie de paléontologie et d'anatomie comparée

Paleontology Museum

I have seen the photographs and peered through the impressive
windows, but sadly I have never been inside to see the skeletons

It is on my list to accomplish this year

Grande Galerie de l'Évolution

Grande Galerie de l'Évolution

Although we went to see the Robert Doisneau exhibit of photographs
taken at the museum, this parade of animals was magnificent.
I wondered how I could have been to Paris so many times
and yet failed to visit this museum

Jardin des Plantes - des flâneurs

Jardin des Plantes

In a misty rain
you will always see people in Paris parks.

This young maman was walking her baby
briskly between the showers of the afternoon.

Dodo Manège - la petite fille en rouge

Dodo Manège

The carrousels of Paris will amaze you.

This is a unique little carrousel tucked away in Jardin des Plantes,
well-known by the children of Paris.

Le Carrousel - Dodo Manège

Dodo Manège

Hidden in Jardin des Plantes this fanciful, unusual carousel is a delight for all ages.

As you can see from the photo, these are not your ordinary carousel animals,
but, there are enough creatures to satisfy all tastes.

Dodo Manège - Carrousel XXXIII

"Dodo Manège"
Carousel in Jardin des Plantes

Wrapped in tarp this carousel hides its animal-rides
created to reflect extinct and endangered species.
Jardin des Plantes is filled with treasures
and this carrousel is but one.

On weekend afternoons in good weather
you will find many families enjoying this charming carrousel.

Jardin des Plantes

Jardin des Plantes

Walking alone in the garden, an alley of trees appeared,
presenting a carpet dappled by the sun
with a pattern of lace.

The sun was elusive,
and one must be quick to capture its appearance.

Les couleurs de Paris - le jaune

The garden shed

What a simple description of this little fairytale of a building...
a yellow turret with red trim sitting the midst of a tidy garden

This is my contribution to a five-color series of photos,
and with this I curtsy to yellow as bright as a sunflower.

Des couleurs de Paris - le vert

le Jardin des Plantes

This stegosaurus (le stégosaure) hides behind the lush green ferns just in front of
"Galeries d'Anatomie comparée et de Paléontologie."  The gallerie was opened in 1898, offering a vast landscape of bones.  On the 1st floor, is a fabulous collection of fossils, both vertebrate and invertebrate: dinosaurs, mastadons and giant birds, arranged in order of their appearance on Earth.

I have accepted the challenge of Rob and Mandy (and Grace)
to show 5 colors featured in photos.
This is my bow to green, le vert

Dodo Manège -- Un carrousel

Dodo Manège, so read the hand-painted wood sign in front of this picturesque carousel, a merry-go-round of extinct and endangered species. Closed in the winter with the green tarp sealed tightly, it is a must-see for my warm-weather trips to Paris. It is found near the southeast entrance to Jardin de Plantes (Metro: Gare D'Austerlitz) and can be located by the sounds of the carousel music and children's laughter.

You will not see many tourists but parents, grandparents, children -- local families out for an afternoon. To ride the green T. Rex or perhaps the Dodo, each child clutches un billet until it is handed over to the ticket collector. Indulged most likely by grandparents, some children ride time and again, some changing animals each time the manège stops and others guarding the "first-come" rights to the same favorite animal.
