Grande Galerie de l'Évolution

Grande Galerie de l'Évolution

Although we went to see the Robert Doisneau exhibit of photographs
taken at the museum, this parade of animals was magnificent.
I wondered how I could have been to Paris so many times
and yet failed to visit this museum

Église Sainte Étienne du Mont

Église Sainte Étienne du Mont

This church with its storied history is exquisitely detailed
and filled with stained glass windows, the only rood screen in France,
and an abundance of light.

Dodo Manège - Carrousel XXXIII

"Dodo Manège"
Carousel in Jardin des Plantes

Wrapped in tarp this carousel hides its animal-rides
created to reflect extinct and endangered species.
Jardin des Plantes is filled with treasures
and this carrousel is but one.

On weekend afternoons in good weather
you will find many families enjoying this charming carrousel.

To see the carrousel "revealed" look here.

Baguette Monge et saucisson sec

Eric Kayser's
Baguette Monge

Certainly there are many fine boulangeries in Paris but for me, the perfect baguette can be found at Eric Kayser (on Rue Monge).  You must ask for the Baguette Monge, and if you have good timing, it will be still warm from the oven.
They are a little over 1€ - what a bargain.

For a little piece of heaven, step outside, pinch off the top,
and take a bite while the steam fogs your face.

Église Saint-Séverin -- Les Cierges

Although this scene would have you believe that this is a dark, dimly lighted church, Saint-Séverin is diverse with ancient windows from the 14th century and these contemporary abstract windows in the apse chapels which were created in 1970. Depending on the season and time of day, you can see the total spectrum of light and dark. You will be amazed at the twisted pillars which some say look like palm trees. This church has a wealth of interesting features and I will bring you here again.
Église Saint-Séverin can be found in the 5th arrondisement, on rue Saint-Séverin.
