Église Saint-Roch... Nativity

We have visited this church previously, but this time it was much more personal. Each morning we woke to the sounds of the church bells at 8 with their evenly paced 3 rings, 3 rings, 3 rings, and then 47 rings... no snooze alarm either.

Our apartment faced the side of this beautiful and active church and we were thrilled to hear the choir rehearsals, the sounds of school children, and the hourly chiming of the bells. What a treasure Paris has with its history of churches.

Oh I can hardly wait to hear those bells awaken ME each morning. That will be good, no sleeping in while in Paris. Up and at em! :)V

How lucky you were to stay in the shadow of this beautiful church and be awakened by its bells!
Most of the videos I take in Europe are just an excuse to capture the sound of the churchbells. (There are more than 700 churches here in Brooklyn—and yet, no bells. I understand why, but dommage.)

Churches do have a lot of nice stuff. Of course, being the richest entity in the world helps.

Sounds wonderful - Christmas in Paris is breathtaking.
2 years ago we had the pleasure of being there for our 20th anniversary. I loved it. I never forget the Nuns singing at Sacre Coure on Christmas morning - wonderful. x

JBar -- Merci, and thanks for the visit!

Virginia -- You will not be able to sleep through the bells, but why would you want to... It's Paris after all!

Alexa -- I agree, and now that I have successfully posted a video, I plan on posting one of church bells (the sounds) as they called the faithful to church on a rainy December evening...

Randy -- I think that when you are in a special place, the sounds and sights are magnified ... The children were singing as they marched around the side of the church.

Starman -- Rich in many ways

Cezar -- If you will email me, I'll tell you my favorites and what to look for in each... God bless you and Léia...

Dianne -- I hope that you enjoy a bit of a holiday. Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année!

Suzi -- Now that must have been some anniversary! The memories of the singing will be with you forever.

Great shot! I was thinking about you when I was walking around in this church last month because one of your posts reminded me to go there. :)

I'm trying to keep my Newtown blog more for local stuff so I've been posting my Paris photos here.

James -- So glad that you got to see it... I am never disappointed with the churches of Paris... we just do not have many that compare with these old churches

Amanda -- It did make me want to just stay forever in that dream... or for at least a little longer!
