Église Saint-Eustache

Rays of light filtered through the majestic windows of Saint-Eustache.

During my recent visit to Paris, there were only about three hours of sunlight and shadows... I am glad that I was able to visit St-Eustache during this brief period of filtered light and capture a few photos of this magnificent church.

The funeral for Mozart's mother was held at St.-Eustache. She died in Paris during one of young Mozart's concert tours.

When the Louvre was still the center of government before it began its career as a museum, St-Eustache was the parish church for the court. Because of its location adjacent to les Halles, it was also the parish church for many of the vendors.

Thus for many years, it was the largest and richest parish in Paris.

Beautiful picture, as always. Great interplay of light and shadows; the "brilliance" of black and white.

Louis, many thanks for the historical perspective on this magnificent church... Like so many in Paris, the stories of events here could fill a book!

Chieftess -- Yes, and I was thinking "how wonderful that there was even this much sunlight during my stay in Paris!
