Marché d'Aligre - XIV

Marché d'Aligre

Early Sunday morning at Marché d'Aligre
is my favorite for taking photographs and watching the day come alive.

As with all the street markets of Paris, there is a collegial neighborhood atmosphere as shoppers greet their favorite vendors.  You see children playing and families shopping together on the weekend mornings.  Quite often they finish the morning in the nearby Square Trousseau with the children playing.

Look at all those gorgeous vegetables! They are arranged so perfectly and look so tempting. How could you not purchase one of everything! :)

While I worked in Paris, I lived in a studio in that neighborhood for a few years. My best friend and I often went to le Marché d'Aligre together and bought fresh produce so she could prepare a traditional "couscous..." Memories, memories... Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

We always make a beeline for the local market when in a foreign city. It always provides a grounding to the usual tourist spots. Real people. Real food.

Red and green ... Even the veggies are reminding us that we are entering the Christmas season! Lovely capture, Gene!

Luscious. Almost as good as being there.

I had exactly the same thought as M when I saw this image Genie....Christmas!! Love the traditional colours of red green and gold.
P.s. thankfully there was no damage to the cars, last year we had a storm with hail three times the size of this..people are still recovering from damage. Can you imagine all the cars parked out in the open in so many car sales yards, thankfully we had a bit of warning about that one and my car was safely in the garage.
