Musée Rodin - at last!

I have been to the door of Musée Rodin too many times to count. And why did Holly and I not ever pass through that portal? We were too late, or there was a grève and it was closed, or it was pouring rain and the garden was closed, or the line was too long, or.... It was something that we laughed over as we continued to put this museum on our list, wondering would we ever get in.

Last month Marie and I went and spent a long time admiring the art, the sculptures, the house, the gardens, and the feel of this museum... It was worth the wait. I will go back with Holly on our next trip as the spell has been broken.

Stanford University has a Rodin Garden and on the quad is Les Burghers de Calais. The Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco has a cast of The Thinker near the entrance and a number of other Rodins inside.

I could see the wall of Musee Rodin from my studio window. I did not visit during my last trip but did so during September 2010. I agree with your sentiments: hours can be spent there.

Reading in its garden is one of my favorite things to do in Paris. I feel like the people living in the neighborhood have made it their private park, and it's a delight to see the mothers with their children. So glad you finally got to see it!

It was wonderful to share it with you -- and to have a more leisurely visit than my first! Love the way the light is filtering in your photo!!

WEll I consider myself lucky to have been at least three times and love it every single time! I always recommend it to anyone who asks.

Funny we had to plow right through a very noisy grève one summer. It was a little scary with all the noise, banging and armed police.

I've only been there once. The ticket lady was just closing her little shop. I whined about seeing Le Penseur. She said, "Turn around" (Yes, in English) and there it was, right behind me in the garden.

Wow! What a day and it just makes me so thankful that in 10 months this is my first Blogger problem... I would so miss everyone if Blogger took you away!

Lesson learned: Always have your blog "loaded" early in the day!

We went to Musee Rodin last summer. My husband was keen to go for some reason, and I wasn't particularly- again not sure why. I'm so glad he wanted to go! It was perfect. Beautiful gardens of course. We spent so much time lolling about the grounds, having lunch and an icecream (it was so hot that week) that we ran out of time to see the house- now I have a definite reason to go back next visit. I missed blogger too yesterday.

Would you believe my first time here was January? Like, trip number 12-13 or something? I loved it! I can't believe it took me so long.

Ps check your email account, I had this page up on my computer since Thursday trying to comment and before I did I saw there were 20 comments here - I figured you lost them - so I cut and pasted them and emailed them to you.

Isn't it wonderful? I had no interest, however, our friends wanted to visit and once inside
I was hooked. It is beyond belief!
If I ever make it back, I am definitely going there again!

Thank you for the post, and reviving my memories!
