Musée Rodin - Hôtel Biron III

Every room in Hôtel Biron has an enchanting view.  With the renovations and the reopening of the East wing of the museum, the rooms will take on a fresh sparkle.

Musée Rodin - Hôtel Biron

The Hôtel Biron, built in 1728, has served as the Musée Rodin since 1919, and is situated on over 7 acres (3 hectacres) of gardens and sculptures.  This grand entrance is a prelude to the amazing work of Rodin contained within these 18th Century walls.

The museum features the work of Rodin's muse, Camille Claudel, and others.  When an exhibit dedicated to Claudel was held in the spring of 2008, there were over 150,000 visitors to the museum.  Thinking it would be fabulous to see, I arrived to find a line that snaked for an eternity.

Musée Rodin - at last!

I have been to the door of Musée Rodin too many times to count. And why did Holly and I not ever pass through that portal? We were too late, or there was a grève and it was closed, or it was pouring rain and the garden was closed, or the line was too long, or.... It was something that we laughed over as we continued to put this museum on our list, wondering would we ever get in.

Last month Marie and I went and spent a long time admiring the art, the sculptures, the house, the gardens, and the feel of this museum... It was worth the wait. I will go back with Holly on our next trip as the spell has been broken.
