Eric Kayser II

The French know how to do it right! This pâtisserie is found in the 5ième Arr. on Rue Monge near Métro Maubert-Mutualité. When I stay in a hotel just around the corner, this is a twice-a-day stop for un café or to pick up something sweet (much smaller than these beauties).
Those macarons are very red!

I'm off on an adventure with Nanette to find some castanets -- I will still be posting daily but with fewer comments until I return.

Genie, I hope you and your dear Nanette are having fun and we will wait for news of your travels. You aren't even there yet and I miss you already! :(

Now about those divine creations. I"m not hungry, I'm in the closet with my spoon and my Nutella! :)

Castanets??? Are you off to Spain?

Aah! Genie you've found my best ever boulangerie on Rue Monge I stayed not far from here and every morning walked down to this fab place - Enjoy your little trip away!

Wow...I had a friend who lived on Rue Monge, but this pastry shop was not there then, thankfully. Red food coloring (or any) isn't good for you, but then, if you're going to sin, why not? :)

The French have nothing on the Germans (or my local supermarket in Fort Lauderdale). Well, the French will charge about twice as much, and get angry if you don't have the exact change.

The pastries are incredible, but what I found even more amazing was that each evening upon our return the case was almost empty and all these beauties were sold. They look like "fancy dinner party" purchases to me - or do the Parisians have beautiful desserts each night after a quiet night at home eating leftover quiche and salade?

Mom - hope you and Nan have a wonderful trip in Spain! YUM - red wine, good ham, tapas, and desserts with almonds and apricots. I'm jealous!

Genie, Have a wonderful trip -- enjoy some Tempranillo!! My diet is so glad that we didin't have to pass by this patisserie every day en juin. Beautiful photo -- the bright colored decorations and the glossy chocolate look lovely. Bises

I'm off to bed shortly, so now I'll have visions of sugarplums dancing in my head. Have a wonderful time, Genie ~ oddly enough, my mum and I were talking about castanets just the other day {some of which look surprisingly similar to these red macarons}! Enjoy...

Almost too pretty to eat...almost. One thing I found when in Paris is the coffee was good and strong, but the cups were too small and never enough.

Bonjour to all -- This patisserie is one place that they never gave me "the look" when I took photographs. Perhaps it is because Holly and I were there so frequently.

All is well -- travel is what I love.

As beautiful to look at as it is to eat—or so I tell myself since I can't have it! Tienen un gran tiempo en Espana, Genie!

Those cakes look like round dominoes!! I'm not sure about red macarons. Wonder what flavor?

Yes, the French truly know how to decorate their desserts beautifully! Those macaroons are SO vibrant...I'm guessing some type of berry flavour??
