Terrasse Chauffée

Avenue Daumesnil is the scene of roller skaters on Sunday afternoons with an obstacle course of botttles and an audience of the café patrons. Despite the awning sign "Terrassee Chauffée" (heated terrace) there were no people on this frigid day.

Those cliché tables and chairs make me miss Paris so much...
I would definitely be there for un café or a croissant!

Eh oui, chauffées ou pas, les clients préfèrent les terrasses ensoleillées.
Quel bonheur de boire un café quand le soleil est là et que les amoureux envahissent les rues et les bistrots de Paris!...

Looks like an ideal place to have coffee and watch the "people" view.

probably no smoking people around ! In Brussels the heated terraces are always occupied ! you can even eat outside brrrrr

Pretty chilly, for sure. I remember when there were no heaters, and everyone was squished inside cafes.

Sorry for not commenting this past week--out of town!

Ah Genie, This is why I am going to Paris in May --- to be able to sit outside and watch the passeers by at a gorgeous Parisienne cafè such as this. Perfection!

I think I'd rather wait till spring to sit here! Thanks for yesterday's comment I'll attend to this soon.

... but I do like this shot.

It's so great to know that the rollerblading continues. I did that *once* back in 2001. But I always loved the scene.

The only thing missing is you, Marie, Mary, Peter et moi!
The weather is good now I would think. I have always wanted to see the skaters!

With spring on the way, those chairs will soon be filled.

Daumesnil is not far from where I was living in Paris...souvenirs!:)

Hoping to be sitting there watching skaters in the near future avec Genie (and if Virginia & Mary come aussi -- magnifique!)

It must have been really cold, because normally the Parisians are always sitting outside if there is a "chauffage".

Many many terrasses chauffees here as well, and more coming everyday, since you cannot smoke inside any cafe, restaurant, pub, etc, anymore. I like it!

Brittany -- Well, alons-y! I would be there right now if I could!

Richard -- J'aime Paris en printemps quand les cafés et les bistrots sont remplis et les terrasses sont en plein soleil. Merci, et bon weekend!

Miss Sadie -- Yes and it looks as if on this day we could have our pick of spots!

Gattina -- I think that we were too early on this day... We did sit on the chilly but heated terrace of Ma Bourgogne later

Bibi -- Squished inside the cafés with lots of smoke... Missed you this week and thought that you were traveling

Suzi -- May should be just perfect for this activity!

Forest -- There are sunny days before it is totally warm in Paris but you need the heaters and a crowd to keep warm! Thanks as I am sure that there are others who would like to say how much they like your art...

Birdman -- Merci, mon ami

Aesthetic Alterations -- In this area there are many roller-bladers weaving in and out of the obstacle courses like their legs are made of rubber... and very fast!

Virginia -- Alons-y, mon amie!

Harriet -- You are right and perhaps we could put our name on one right now!

Malyss -- Lots of activity in this area and obviously people who live nearby... Sunday afternoon entertainment is right on les trottoirs

Marie -- Sounds like a great idea and we'll add Peter to the crowd too!

Vreni -- You are right, but after I posted this I realized that it was too early on Sunday for the crowd (probably around 10:30am) -- Love your cute red hair

Rob and Mandy -- I think that they are great and it is great entertainment to watch the passing activity (with my camera, bien sûr)!

Those darn Parisians really know how to do outside tables and chairs...these sure beat the #@#$#@ metal tables and chairs that most of the outdoor spots in SoCal...and here in Mammoth have!!! I love the resin wicker look and comfort!!! And charming little tables too!!!

Having the heaters is one thing; turning them o,n is another. I saw so many places that had them, but they weren't on.

Martine -- Merci, et je me suis enchantée avec tes peintures... J'adore les couleurs et les sujets... bon weekend, mon amie!

Chieftess -- Absolutely... why do we have to sit on the metal seats that will burn the backs of your legs in summer? If someone set up a business selling these café chairs in the US, they could make a fortune -- love them!

Starman -- When we went to Ma Bourgogne they turned on two heaters for us... one on each side of the table and it was just right...

Certainment - and Richard, too!

Alexa said...

Oh what fun to sit and sip something yummy while watching other people exert themselves! Apparently everyone doesn't feel this way (or maybe Starman got it right).

Randy said...

Looks a little lonely. I would have sat out there if if was heated and shot the people passing by.

Jack said...

I think we should all play a game and see if we can sit on those chairs, exactly as they are placed, without moving any. It will be a Parisian version of Twister.

TheChieftess said...

Hmmmm...that could be fun Jack...you go first!!!

Genie -- Paris and Beyond said...

Marie -- It's a plan!

Alexa -- Wish that I could join you in those chairs when you go next month!

Randy -- Then there would be at least two of us doing that - hah!

Jack -- When the cafés get crowded, it is just about like that, n'est-ce pas?

Chieftess -- We can all go and pull up a few more chairs! Alons-y!

Rob said...

Spring will arrive soon and the outdoor cafe's will be flooded with coffee enthusiasts.

Genie -- Paris and Beyond said...

Rob -- And people watchers... Merci! I hope that spring arrives soon!
