Église Saint Paul Saint Louis

Église Saint Paul Saint Louis

Beautifully restored, it is a visual treat
to turn a corner and see this magnificent church
in the heart of the Marais

Constructed from 1627 to 1641,
it was due for another refreshing

Palais Royal - blanc et noir et rouge

Palais Royal

The Colonnes de Buren in the Coeur d'Honneur
is a site for wedding photos or children's play...

or a photo reminder of wonderful
trips to Paris with a daughter.

Joyeux anniversaire, ma chère Holly!

Le Consulat

Restaurant - le Consulat

This bistro is adorned in deep red and housed in a building
which has likely been in place on Butte Montmartre for nearly 400 years.

Beside the tourists of Montmartre there is much beauty,
history, and architecture to be enjoyed.
Enjoy the views and wander the back streets.

Le Rendez-Vous des Amis

Le Rendez-Vous des Amis

With a name like this and a reputation for
music, food and a fun place,
this guy looks pretty lonely.

Perhaps he is waiting for ses amis?

Basilique du Sacré Coeur

Today is le solstice d'été and
la Fête de la Musique

I wonder what the music program holds
for Sacré Coeur today.  It will surely be magnificent!

Élégante!

Stylish!

This stylish young woman was impressive enough
that the bicyclist almost lost his balance...

Église Saint-Augustin

Église Saint-Augustin

Amidst the rooftops and chimney pots,
the dome of Saint-Augustin pushes toward the heavens.

With no special effects or editing,
this scene is seen just as it appeared:
a limited color palette
and situated against the backdrop of modern Paris buildings.

Jardinières avec des fleurs rouges

Window boxes

On the second floor of this building in the Marais
the bleeding heart flowers and masses of red blooms
first caught my eye.

The giant thermometer which could be read
from the street was a fascination.

le bateau rouge

the (big) red boat
Le Batofar (bateau-phare)

This big red boat has a story:

Le Batofar ignited the "night club on boat" trend in Paris. This lighthouse boat (in French bateau-phare) offers an original setting on the bank of the Seine in the 13ième. It is known for its progressive musical programming which champions cutting edge electro bands live, and its renowned DJ-driven afterhours dance parties. During the day, Batofar is also a community gathering that serves as a restaurant, café and a summertime "beach" hang-out (Paris-Beach). (Wikipedia)

I wish that I could say we partied here...

La Bocca - Il fait froid

La Bocca
brrrrr....

As you can see in the background,
many of the Paris cafés have heaters
and plastic framed terraces for the winter.

This gentleman was writing,
perhaps waiting for someone.

Le Tir Bouchon

Cascading ivy,
bucket of stargazer lillies,
color theme of rouge and rose foncé,
handwritten blackboard menu...
all should have been sufficient to entice my entrance.

As I checked out this restaurant on line for my post,
I added it to the "definitely try" on my next visit.

Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis

Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis

If you have not been to Paris recently
you might not recognize the magnificent Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis.
After more than a year of work,
the exterior has been brought back to a nearly new appearance.

I had only seen the doors in a very sombre, dark and indistinguishable color.
As you can see, the details of the newly-painted doors are displayed in bright red,
ah yes, Paris rouge.

Rue Gabrielle - 'shabby chic'

Rue Gabrielle
Montmartre

The dark reflection in the old glass panes
adds to the mystery of this premier étage.
The trace of last year's vines
and the slant of the frame itself are in stark contrast
with the fresh red geraniums.

I will take this "shabby chic" any day
