Palais Garnier - Repetto

What little girl would not want the
beautiful tuille attire of a French ballerina?

The gift shop at Palais Garnier is one of my favorite stops,
for taking photos, for people-watching, and for dreaming of sugar-plums.

Hi Genie, I saw your picture in the newspaper accompanying the veterans. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss but know someone is very proud.

I adore this shop (and the Garnier in general) for so many reasons. How fun it would be to go shopping together there!

Jeanie,
I highly recommend a new book, The Painted Girls by Cathy Marie Buchanan. It gives a fabulous view of the ballet girls at Opera Garnier during the time of Edgar Degas, many of whom he painted. So very, very young, some were so desperately poor they would go to any length to earn a spot on the stage there and enough to put a meager bowl of soup on the table.

Send it to the Met, Genie. The one on Degas' little dancer is wearing out.

One of those special girly shops. I can understand why you would love it. I can remember the days when I always wore a crinoline under my skirts and long dresses. They were an important part of the attire. genie

I agree, we went there last visit (and will be returning next month), such a beautiful shop- and I'm not a ballet fan especially.
