Jardin des Tuileries - Tigre terrasant un crocodile

Tigre terrasant un crocodile
Auguste Cain (1873)

(Tiger overwhelming a crocodile)
Overwhelming?  I would say that he is going to "eat" the crocodile!
This is perhaps my favorite of the bronze animal statues in the park.
I love the powerful image in bronze.

I can understand why it is your favourite sculpture in the gardens Genie. It is very spectacular.

Hi Genie,

I instantly recognised the post title from Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, where they take a ride through this garden!

Have a great day!

He must be very powerful to eat a crocodile. Stunning statue.

poor croc.

Violence in art is not as bad as it looks. Too much green in a rainy day. Nice.

Indeed a stunning statue but I like a bit more romantic :)))

A rather leathery lunch.

FEROCIOUS looking I'd say! It's hard to say who would win this battle. :)

The cat's victory may be what's projected, but judging by the position of each, the croc is more likely to rip the cat to shreds.

My fave too, Genie. BTW, there's a video on uTube of a tiger killing a croc—my money's on the tiger here.

Another part of Paris that I did not get to see. Next time the Tuileries will definitely be on my list.

What a bronze! Two powerful creatures and one winning the 'duel'. Both are stealthy and excellent hunters in his own way. Love it!

Very powerful looking.

It is certainly a ferocious-looking statue. And the day looks cold and dark and wet and generally rotten.
