Repetto VIII

Dansez!

Repetto's window on Rue de la Paix is always on my list,
and the petite souris did not disappoint.

Dance, with all the joie de vivre in your heart

In France , we call the young dancers "petits rats"! (little rats). They are much more cute than "rats", especially this little one!

This delightful window reminds me of how my ballet teacher always admonished us to "make a dance of it" when we ploughed through our exercises. Good advice with which to manoeuver through life.

With her nose pointed towards the moon and her arms extended to her tail the stars span around Madeleine as she completed her pirouette. From grand jete to arabesque from the early hours to dawn there was nothing but dance. When she woke the sun was up and the tail was no more but there on the floor was a tiny pair of ballet slippers worn and pink.

I nearly cried over this, Genie ~ she's so delicate and fragile and sweet. Thank you... if I'd missed seeing this scene, my day wouldn't have been quite as bright.

My first thought was also Angelina Ballerina—surely it's her. Too precious, Genie!

There is a Repetto shop in Lyon too and like to stop there each time I go downtown! Your petit rat is so cute!

I have two left feet, but your pictures make me want to visit this store.

Céline, I would love to go to Lyon to see the Repetto windows.

I am a sucker for these windows and on this particular trip, there was a 30-something woman who started taking photos as she exited the store with her Repetto purchase. She asked if I would take her photo in front of "the famous Repetto windows" and she assumed 4th position with ballet arms. Love it!

Joe, mon ami, you really got me with this petit roman (little story). You told an entire story in three beautifully worded sentences. Merci beaucoup!

Bises,
Genie

The first thing I thought of when I saw this was of the Angelina Ballerina books I used to read to my girls! This is adorable. I am glad Repetto didn't disappoint this trip ... and your story of the lady coming out of the store is priceless!

thanks for the lovely photo, and to Joe for the story with it. Tonight I am dreaming of piroettes and my dear Maggie. Ballet brought her to Charleston but Paris was always in her heart and I am thankful for my time with her.

I am responding late, but I love this photo. I can just imagine the oohs and aahs when you came upon this window. What a nice post on my birthday....36 again and always dancing in my dreams......

Reminds me of when I was little and taking ballet...my middle sister who is 6 years older than me told me I looked like the ostrich's of Fantasia and sounded like the Hippo's...kind of put a dent in my zest for taking ballet!!!

This shot made me laugh out loud!!!
