Bassin de la Villette -- le dimanche

A beautiful weekend afternoon brings all ages to the parks, to the gardens, to the banks of the waterways of Paris. Bassin de la Villette is no exception and this papa was kind enough to smile for me.

Who dressed that baby?

The smile of a proud dad towards a nice lady! ... and the baby boy doesn't seem to be ashamed of his surprising "hat"! :-)

I always wonder when I see a picture (as you know ;-) ) who is who and what the real story is.... This time I wonder whether the handsome man smiling at you is the dad.. For some reason I think he is just holding the baby for a moment ... polka dots, yellow towel, special wonderful hat. result : great photo

and, as far as the picture on This is Belgium is concerned... you are absolutely right.. I know the person.

Hot damn, that is one handsome man! The baby has a great smile too, but then if I were dressed like that I'd be giggling just as much.

This is a lovely shot genie, I often see people who I want to photograph I feel a little nervous sometimes and don't want to offend, how lovely you had such a willing subject,

I love the banks of the seine and have fond memories.

Thank you also for the reccomendation for vinera San telmo. It was beautiful food and lovely service. I might even go back for my last night in Seville.

I am looking forward to being able to finally share my travels

I like the kid's outfit and I love that European dads are very much available for their children.

Yes, he's the dad. He's very relaxed holding that little baby who can't be older than 3 or 4 months. The friend is the one eliciting happy smiles from the baby. Strange choice for a hat, but it might have been all they could find at the moment, and a baby's tender head needs protection. Kudos for being a good dad!

What a wonderful bunch of interactions: men with baby and beau papa with you. Do you think that if maman were there, the baby might be wearing a less amusing chapeau—and might be not so close to the water's edge? :~}

the baby seems quite content, and why not with such a congenial looking papa.

Excellent, Genie. You captured the moment perfectly. I think the baby is already developing an individual sense of style.

Thanks for the kind comments today on HDP. I always look forward to seeing if you have been there and if my picture struck a chord with you. I await Bastille Day.

That is some little hat that baby is sporting.

I originally focused on the baby until I saw that gorgeous smile... We will never know the story here, but based on the diaper bag and stroller just out of view, I thought that this was the dad, the other guy a relative (brother-in-law?) and the mama had gone to rent les boules (perhaps).

The "boardwalk" (if that is what it might be called) was full of families, groups of young people, and retirees. Oh, and there were a few photographers.

If you have never been to Bassin de la Villette, put it on your list for your next trip to Paris. It is great for walking and observing life. I will bring you back here again for more photos.

Bises,
Genie

PS - Did you miss the plastic cup of wine?
