Pétanque avec des amis

Although I have seen mostly older gentlemen playing pétanque in Jardin du Luxembourg and Jardin des Tuileries, we found several mixed groups of twenty-somethings playing in the long promenade around Bassin de la Villette. The play was animated with squeals and shouts, mixed with quiet whispers of strategy.

I will show you more of this scene with some of the young women competing with the men in future posts.

Un peu la photo que j'ai présentée, il y a quelques semaines... Mais toi c'est à Paris et moi sur la Côte d'Azur. La pétanque est vraiment le sport national que tout le monde peut pratiquer.
Bonne journée, Genie!

Splendid composition, Genie.
Now I'm going to have to go out to the garage and find my long-neglected pétanque set, dust it off and bring it to life again.

Such a good way to spend time with friends. When we have family gatherings we play and ages range from early 20's to middle 60's and all enjoy thoroughly! Wonderful B&W shot Genie, makes for very happy thoughts!!

They were a lively bunch and, if I remember correctly, it angling lady that won the round we watched! Love the composition of the shoe and the boules! Doing the Genie today ... At airport on the way to MGMA land!

For some reason part of my post was left off --- the shoe gives a hint of the player's age.

Do I even have to tell you how much I love photographing petanque players. Wonderful use of light.

This is something we don't see here. It is a lot more charming than hacky sack.

It can be a fun game. But I always liked playing it at the beach better than in the city. :)

We have this game on the beach where I live in Florida. I have never played it. Mostly men play it I've noticed as I drive by, but it looks like a nice way to connect to others.

Love the play of light and shadow here, Genie.

I always associate petanque with older men, too. They even play a lot of petanque here, too.

This is a very good photo.

Wouldn't you love to have a petanque (no accent marks on the laptop) court in your yard or nearby. The closest thing to the ambiance of this game is croquet we played as kids.

In Paris, I love the sound it makes when you walk in the bleached limestone of the gardens and walkways. When it rains there are milky-colored puddles.

I am working in Orlando, combining business with pleaseure while I make a visit to "the Mouse" with a 4-year old. It is all about perspectives and priorities.

bisous,
genie
