Eastern-European transplant, if you ask me. Probably Ukrainian, given that she has all the ingredients for kruchenikiin her shopping bag.
I agree with jb. There's something in her that doesn't make her a true Parisian in my eyes. Not sure what. I would have said the tank top. Not quite classy enough if you ask me.

I had to click on the photo to see if that was a large hoop earing or strand of hair ~ but you are correct ~ I'll leave it to those more knowlegeable than I ~ if French or non!! Great shot Genie anyway.

To me, she has a nonchalantly fashionable look that has some kind of je ne sais quoi, regardless of origin. And those shoes would be very handy in any dark alleyway!

Nathalie -- I think you have a point about the top -- Just a bit too unstructured. Hey! She does not even have a bulky scarf!
Bibi -- The shoes are what had me jump out of my chair at Place de Vosges, camera at the ready! I think that they are soft suede based on the texture...
Dianne -- Hummmm... I think that the jury is still out on her nationality. Scarf? non, and points taken away for that!
Shell -- Although she might have a bit of trouble shedding les chaussures, in a crisis they would make a great weapon!
Oh, she must be very cold without her jacket and scarf! In the 90 degree weather - see, her copain is wearing HIS jacket - un vrai gentleman would have let her borrow it.
But those shoes are quite amazing!
The Paris fashion police would have a great time in Frankfurt where it seems anything goes.

Holly nailed it. If she doesn't have on a jacket and winter scarf wrapped to her ears in summer, she must be from away! Mary and I needed those shoes ( in our hand, not on our feet) that midnight walk trying to find a taxi!

Holly -- Bonjour ma bébé, you are right about both scarf and jacket. Mary, Virginia, Marie and I ALL had on scarves that day!

JM -- Thanks, I haven't been stopped for stalking yet. Stalking is my specialty and Virginia's is trespassing. We make a great team!
Virginia -- If you and Mary each had had one of those shoes in your hand, you might not EVER have been picked up by a taxi. "Wild-eyed women with foreign blue weapons!"
Maybe French ... or possibly Ukranian?? Who knows. She is very chic though.
Loree -- She may be chic but I bet her feet are tired if she walked on those for very long!
But you forgot one of her "accessories," Genie: She also has a boy in tow (and he's probably French and cute)! I say she's a Scandinavian model working in Paris—models can usually afford those shoes (and since the Swedes are forced to bundle up back home in Uppsala they'd probably rather forgo the big-scarf-in-90°F-temps trend).

I'll take your word for it. I don't know why it doesn't occur to me to get up each day thusly. Must be the 30+ years in age difference or sumfing.
I don't care where she's from... I just want to know where she got those shoes!!

M -- Yes I caught that. I think that French girls show their bra straps purposefully and with a sense of style, but never as this petite fille did inadvertently. Tu as raison!

the shoes trump the scarf...but the t-shirt and bra straps give her away!!!
Chieftess -- Looks like the same Target t-shirt I buy. Paris Breakfasts had it right -- too loose fitting or slouchy to be a French girl.
I think a French girl might have had a studded thick belt over that t-shirt.
I love the photo but I love your checklist most of all. Bravo!
American with those huge loop earrings, revealing Bra strap, and red sunglasses. I'm French and I have never seen a French girl wearing loop earrings.... If not American then Eastern Europe. French women 'Whisper' they don't shout!;-)
Fashion Art -- Yes, and I am going to count on you to set me straight in these matters. My first "Is She French" seemed to be more in line with my observations of "French." This woman, although she has to die for shoes, would not pass the test!
