I'll get the wine glasses....

This beautiful (and large) glass bottle is found in the lobby of the building for Carré des Feuillants, a luxury restaurant rated highly by Pudlow and Frommers. The chef is the well-known and highly regarded Alain Dutournier, who sadly has not seen me at his table. Tant pis.

He also has a less extravagant restaurant around the corner (9, rue d'Alger) called Pinxo. the prices at Pinxo are about 1/4th those of the grand Feuillants and receive good ratings.

Hummm, do you think we could get the mango and passion fruit ravioli dessert to go? Uh, non.

ANY price that's 1/4 of somewhere else ALWAYS gets a good rating from me..

Mmm, I'm thinking a little sauvignon blanc could suit that ravioli nicely.

I don't buy expensive wine. My palate is not sophisticated enough. Are you on Facebook or Twitter?

JB -- Moi aussi! I believe that the setting is austere at both locations. You do pay a fine price to enter from Place Vendôme!

Dianne -- Please do and we'll have a party!

Shell -- As hot as it is where I am, Sauv Blanc (and French rosé) are the wines of choice for the summer -- Doesn't that ravioli sound delish?

Starman -- I do not want to pay the price of a high-end restaurant wine on a regular basis but you can buy the same wines in a shop -- I am not tweeting or on FB yet...

Wow, nice bottle. I'm grateful for your bringing the glasses, but what will you drink? LOL

Let's see—a quarter the price but the same chef? Let me think for a nanosecond before I say I'll meet you at Pinxo for that verre de vin!
(My wv is "spocalat," what you say when you're in a hurry to have a spot of chocolate?)

I remember the bottle and am trying to remember where it was. On the way towards the rue de Rivoli? Why didn't I take a photo here? I must have been experiencing a little momentary exhaution. I think we put our feet up at Tuileries shortly thereafter. I see Mar peering in!

PS And JB, I knew that would perk you right up hearing about the "cheapo" place!:)

PPaul -- Why don't we just get some long straws and get started!

Alexa -- I like your wv! Meet you at Pinxo tout de suite!

Rob -- What a silly question -- White first, then red!

Virginia -- It was right past Place Vendome as we headed to Tuileries. You are right: it is Mary recognized by her "silver-blond" hair.

Uh, V and JB, the "cheapo place" reports €45 à la carte. You can, however, have the daily lunch for €21. Let's go! Here's the PDF menu in English: http://www.carredesfeuillants.fr/pdf/en_pinxo_carte.pdf

Genie.........tks for dropping in again on RuT. I will indeed try to update the Squatter's Raft. It's about 18 months since I last mentioned him. (You can even Google him!!!!!).

What an extraordinary thing to have in a lobby. I am really enjoying seeing Paris through your lens.

V -- I think JB is down for the count!

'roon -- I found your 2007 photo of the squatter

Shari -- It will definitely be a large party!

Loree -- Merci beaucoup. Thinking back on my trip, I wonder how much I didn't see or capture in a photo. Sometimes the best experiences, visual and otherwise, are the little unexpected surprises not in the tourist guides.

I managed to snap a photo of this petite bouteille aussi -- but yours really shows the writing on the label. I love the fact that you caught Mar in the upper corner. Great photo, great memory!
