The sun shining radiantly through the church windows highlights the confessional in Saint Paul Saint Louis in the Marais. I previously showed you the organ pipes in this 17th century church here.

I love the way you captured the light in this shot, Genie. Not the most private confessional I've ever seen—and kneeling on that hard floor ought to be penance enough for most of the sins confessed there!
Hey, I think we were together for this visit. I was photographing the sun on the side door when you found this nice shot. Lovely.
PS Our FWOD is améliorer, a hint that mon français needs improving? :)
Between Virginia and your good self, there will be few corners of the Saint Paul church left un-blogged about... But even in changing light, different times of day, subjects take on many different hues and tones. Monet's series of haystacks or the Rouen Cathedral are good examples. Yours and Virginia's photos here are another. Happy travelling... one can never get enough of Paris...
Ah, now that is rich... Virginia and I were typing our comments at exactly the same time, each unbeknownst to the other... synchronicity !
:-)
Alexa -- I had not even thought about that but cherished this photo for the beautiful construction and the variations in the light. Thank you for showing me that! Merci.
Virginia -- We might have been but I think that Marie and I left you and Mary drinking in Place des Vosges when we left... hummmm? (hehehe)
Owen -- Thank you for stopping in with a comment. You are right about the different lighting. My daughter and I have come here in several Decembers and found it with a new perspective. I can tell from my photo collection that I need to visit (and photo) more churches!
I will have to find you on my next visit to Paris!
Hmm -- I left a comment early this morning but it didn't take --
The sun light on the confessional made me thing God was shining down on the penitent. It brought to mind "It Is Well With My Soul" -- my sin, not in part, but the whole ...
M -- Glad you came back to re-comment! Thank you for reminding me of this beautiful hymn.
Beautiful photograph. My grandmother made me very afraid of the confessional. This one doesn't look so scary.
Very nice, but I have no need of a confessional. HAHAHA!
Hi Randy -- Yes without a door that closes it does not seem quite so scary! Thank you for visiting and for your comment. Merci!
Starman -- Hummmmm... Are you sure? Be safe in your travels!
This has a very soothing, late afternoon feel to it. The sunlight and the color of the wood work well together.
