What a simple description of this little fairytale of a building...

a yellow turret with red trim sitting the midst of a tidy garden

This is my contribution to a five-color series of photos,

and with this I curtsy to yellow as bright as a sunflower.

This stegosaurus (le stégosaure) hides behind the lush green ferns just in front of
"Galeries d'Anatomie comparée et de Paléontologie."  The gallerie was opened in 1898, offering a vast landscape of bones.  On the 1st floor, is a fabulous collection of fossils, both vertebrate and invertebrate: dinosaurs, mastadons and giant birds, arranged in order of their appearance on Earth.

I have accepted the challenge of Rob and Mandy (and Grace) 

to show 5 colors featured in photos. 

This is my bow to green, le vert.

This is a quaint little salon de thé almost in the shadow of Notre Dame.  I have never been inside but have photographed the young people from the school next door leaning on the building as they took a smoking break.  The front of this charming salon de thé is pastel tiles which appear to be from Monet's palette.

An early evening in April we strolled to Pont des Arts, hand in hand. 

So romantic, we were alone...  

with about a hundred of our fellow romantics, picknickers, and flaneurs on the bridge. 

We watched the sun set into Seine

and tossed our key into the water below. 

Yes, the key was red.

Palais Garnier - VI

Palais Garnier is a monumental display of architecture and intricate details.  Built between 1860 and 1875 by Charles Garnier, an unknown 35-year-old architect, it was part of the great Parisian reconstruction project of Baron Haussmann.  The abundance of gilt and carvings are over the top, but the wealth of photo opportunities makes my heart sing.  

(Have you seen L'Intouchable with Omar Sy and François Cluzet?  

I saw it last week and loved the scene at Palais Garnier.)

Cathédrale Saint-Louis des Invalides

known simply as

Les Invalides

The dome is recognized on the Paris landscape

but interior is stunning

The organ was build between 1679 and 1687 by the royl organ builder, Alexandre Thierry. 

Wear and tear, including war, could have left this organ in a sad state. 

Repairs and rebuilding have brought this magnificent organ to its full potential.

more commonly known as Colonnes de Buren

(Buren Columns)

Since their installation in 1986 in the Coeur d'Honneur of the Palais Royal, they have been a source of controversy.  Made of steel, concrete, marble, stone, and aluminum their presence invites playful children of all ages... and photographers.  The angles and points of view are limitless, with or without a human subject.

When the lines begin to run together,

then it is time for rest, play and a good weekend.

Paris is full of sundials, horizontal and vertical,

and many like this on in Montmartre are incorporated into the original architecture. 

There is a book on this subject,

in French and out of print, but I am still searching.

this haphazard display of laundry was probably not arranged by the woman of the house.

Église Saint Étienne du Mont - l'orgue

This masterpiece of carving is the work of Jean Buron of 1633, encasing the organ of Saint Etienne du Mont.  The organ itself was built by the master organ builder Pierre le Pescheur and completed in 1636.  Over the centuries, some of the most reknown organ builders in the world made revisions to this organ, from Clicquot to Cavaillé-Coll, Beuchet-Debierre, and several more.

Cherubs and angels surely would make a joyful noise here.

The lemur and the jewels...

Windows like this in Paris leave me speechless, almost...

When I reviewed the photos, I thought it was an image of a monkey or a baboon, but the reflection plays tricks on the eyes.  I was originally captivated by the cloisonné, but now wonder why these jewels are being touted by an animal

Église Protestante Lutherienne Saint-Jean,

a small church in gothic style, almost missed as I walked along Rue de Grenelle.

It was built in 1912 on property left to the Lutheran Church in Paris

by French landscape architects Buhler brothers.

There has been much written in the press (and blogs) since Autolibs appeared in Paris on December 1, 2011.  I saw my first of these in January on the way to a party with friends.  

The concept is fascinating: 

You jump in the car, ride to another location, and walk away. 

I hope that they do not lose any of them!
