This masterpiece of carving is the work of Jean Buron of 1633, encasing the organ of Saint Etienne du Mont. The organ itself was built by the master organ builder Pierre le Pescheur and completed in 1636. Over the centuries, some of the most reknown organ builders in the world made revisions to this organ, from Clicquot to Cavaillé-Coll, Beuchet-Debierre, and several more.
Cherubs and angels surely would make a joyful noise here.

Another pictorial delight.
Bon dimanche, aussi.
I love this photograph. You've captured so many of the details in the carving. I'm sure it must have been a beautiful Cathedral.

This is one of my favourite churches in Paris. It's worth going to a service just to hear the organ - uplifting!
Hark the Herald Angels Sing! I would love to hear the grandness of the chords, the story of the notes and the echoes in the rafters from this organ. The clarity in your photo does it justice Genie.
Hello Genie:
The detailing of the carving is truly remarkable. An amazing achievement and one can only wonder how many people miss the beauty of this unless they happen to look up and notice.
Sadly, many organs in English churches are being removed for sale abroad as there appear to be fewer and fewer organ players. May this organ continue to delight for many centuries to come.
Merci ma chère amie! Although we don't have an organ (yet), I will certainly be hearing angel voices today as we worship in our first church building after more than eight years of being a portable church. I will keep your thoughtfulness in my heart! I don't think we took enough photos of this magnificent church (ha)!
It's beautiful. I love the light in this photo.
The organ is gorgeous. It must both boom and soar.
Amazing organ! Amazing carving. It's music.
Now that my friend, is an organ! Magnificent! I do believe the cherubs and angels would make beautiful music in here! :)
«Louis» shares your infatuation with this enchanting église.

Nice looking pipes.
Wow, this is breath-taking!
You know I love the joyful noise this organ makes—and I also love how you've shown it in such beautiful detail!
