Café le Nemours VI

2012 Oct 9 Tuesday_17DSC_9349

Café le Nemours

I think that if I could just pick one café in Paris for people-watching
it would be here at Café le Nemours.
No matter the weather
as you can move under the cover of the building in the rain
and there are heaters when it is cold.
The morning I took this photo, the chairs and tables were all empty...
save the patriot at the end of the row.

Yes, give me le Nemours any day,
a timeless classic café

Café le Nemours - Place Colette

la terrasse

Before the streets are busy and this becomes a gathering place,
the chairs and tables at Café le Nemours sit waiting in the early morning light.

I plan to be here on Wednesday...

Café le Nemours - Place Colette

Café le Nemours

Place Colette and the famous Café le Nemours provide a great vantage point for people-watching and street photography.  This was a cold day and people were bundled to stay warm.

I do wish that I had been able to get a better view of this person walking briskly through Place Colette.  The hat and glimpse of hair do not seem to match the shoes and leggings.

Le Nemours - être obligé d'attendre

Kept waiting at le Nemours....

At least there is much to catch one's interest near Palais Royal,
Comédie Française, Place Colette...

How about a glass of bubbly?

Petit Bureau - Place Colette

In Place Colette, the very building of Comédie française, is this small office on le premier étage. The office is not be too petite and the view is stunning as the office worker can see the entrance to Métro Palais Royal Musée du Louvre and probably watch the Parisians on the terrasse of Le Nemours. Can you imagine working in an office with the Buren Columns and the fountains of Pol Bury just down the stairs?

Holly, Peter, and I walked by twice and she was steadily at work both times. She is a better worker than I would be!

Solitude -- Under the crown of "night"

Métro Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre is probably the most photographed Métro entrance in Paris. It was redesigned by Jean-Michel Othoniel in 2000 for the centennial of the Métro as the "Kiosque des Noctambules" (Kiosk of the night-walkers). There are two crowns constructed of glass and aluminum -- one representing "day" and the other "night."

The bench concealed under the canopy of "night" was part of the artist's installation for "chance encounters."
