Café le Nemours - Place Colette

2010 dec 03 DSC_0021

Café le Nemours

Place Colette and the famous Café le Nemours provide a great vantage point for people-watching and street photography.  This was a cold day and people were bundled to stay warm.

I do wish that I had been able to get a better view of this person walking briskly through Place Colette.  The hat and glimpse of hair do not seem to match the shoes and leggings.

Lors des beaux jours cela doit être très agréable de prendre une tasse de thé sur la terrasse...

NO they don't, and I had to think for a while regarding the gender of this person!

It is impossible to wear a fur coat here anymore. You will be bullied or get sprayed with paint. I have a simular coat inherited of my mother but don't dare to wear it.

You're right. The hair ruined it for me! But I'd like to be in Nemours right now.

I also was thinking 'man or woman' and ditto for the fur coats being a non-non. But good for this photo!

Still looks cold, even with that coat.

I also thought "not French," though I can't say precisely why. Bet that coat is warm though!

She is a very interesting lady. Is that gray hair I see? Just looking at this photo makes my imagination go wild, with thoughts about the lady in the mink and fedora . . . Quirky I would say :)

I just recently saw a woman here wearing a beautiful mink coat like this one...she was from Germany...I almost said something to her like...be careful...there are a lot of Americans who think mink coats are evil and will throw paint on it...I didn't say anything though...I just enjoyed looking at her in it!!! I don't have a problem with fur coats (after all...we wear leather too) if in a climate like ours...but then, I grew up in the 50's when it was pretty common to see...wearing fur in Southern California, just because of status...is a whole other ball game...

You're right. Seems odd together.

I agree with Brattcat's comment - the glimpse of grey, the possibly pageboy hairdo and then Keaton's interesting way of dressing; young, old, trendy, classic, feminine, masculine. But that fedora is all wrong in color!
Right or wrong, that's a gorgeous mink!

What a fancy coat.

Where I live we rarely need fur coats, but many wear them. This was a cold day and I understand that the fur was to keep her warm.

In Paris, I have seen a dozen or so Parisians in fur, and have not seen any indication of "paint" or harassment.

Like Virginia and others, I would love to be sitting at le Nemours right now!

I was a little distracted by the warm glow coming from Cafe Nemour, what a wonderful place to drink coffee on a chilly day.
