Roi Charles épagneul

King Charles Spaniel

The Parisians dote on their dogs, no matter the size.
This King Charles was outfitted with a fleece lined rain-cape
for the intermittent showers of spring.

I have seen small dogs and large,
the biggest... a Great Dane on rue de Richelieu!

Tabac - Cherche Midi Presse

A tabac is licensed to sell tobacco products
as well as newspapers and stamps.

Apparently it is good to have a friend along
to spend the day greeting customers.

La femme et sa chien

Rainy day in Paris...
out for lunch with friends...
warm pink coat...
ah, Paris...

Who says it's a dog's life?

le blanc et le noir

Jardin du Palais Royal

These two chiens were an interesting pair
as they strolled on the "Paris dirt" at Jardin du Palais Royal.
One, sleek, petite and dark...
the other, fluffy, medium-sized, and white.

They did keep in close step,
each with the other,
evidence of much practice on early morning walks.

Jardin du Palais Royal - les promeneurs

Jardin du Palais Royal
the dog walkers

It does not matter how early you get up in the morning.
The dog walkers are out in force.
Truthfully, I cannot imagine a more scenic place to gather with others,
away from the busy streets and sheltered from the elements.

Can you hear the crunch of the limestone gravel under your feet?

Madame et le chien

Shall we cross?

are either watching traffic or are lost in a reverie.

You may remember our friend Chula...

Chula Wula D'Auge, a Sheltie by birth and a Frenchie by choice, landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport after an 11-hour flight on Air France from San Francisco.  Chula, the author of Dog Trots Globe - To Paris & Provence, packed light with only a fur coast and four white socks.  She plans a 2-month adventure mostly in Provence on this, her third visit to France.

On my sidebar you can follow Chula's adventures and share her Poochcards from Provence about twice a week.  Visit her for a dog's-eye view of Provence and a lot of fun.

Jardin du Palais Royal - le chien qui joue

A lucky shot in Jardin du Palais Royal considering how quickly le petit chien was running, fetching, retrieving, bouncing...

Can you see the blur of tail-wagging?

Le chien de la rue Cler

The marché on rue Cler was full of people this day
and provided a great opportunity to explore the scents and sounds of the market.

Dog Trots Globe - to Provence

Image copyright © Sheron Long. All Rights Reserved.

Although Chula was limited by the "no dog" signs in Paris, she was free to go everywhere in Provence.  She loves the lavender fields, seen here with Mont Ventoux in the background, and the plentiful sunflower fields.  She was a regular in the bistros and markets and friendly with the brocante vendors.  Truly, exploring the village and making new friends was much to her liking.

See the original post here with her Paris story.

Today is the last day to comment before the drawing this evening.
The winner will be announced tomorrow.

Dog Trots Globe -- Chula

Image copyright © Erick Paraiso. All Rights Reserved

Meet my friend, Chula, Paris dog about town and "globe trotter" extraordinaire.  This sweet Sheltie has enjoyed adventures in Paris and beyond (in Provence) with her owners Sheron and Bob.  She tells the story in a book titled Dog Trots Globe, which I have enjoyed reading and reviewing.  The text and beautiful photographs are blended into this tale for any age, one that will have a special place for those who love dogs and/or France.  In addition to Chula's story, there are many tips about bringing a dog to France and the book has more than 150 lovely photos of  familiar scenes of Paris and Provence and Chula, bien sûr!

When I am in Paris, I love seeing the dogs in cafés and restaurants which is almost never allowed in the US, but there is another side to visiting in Paris from a dog's point of view.  While over 200,000 people in Paris have dogs which are permitted in most hotels and restaurants, they actually cannot go in the Métro, the parks, the museums, and many other public plces.  Sheron said, "We had to leave Chula home a lot, and this picture where she is curled up in the big chair captures her sad face."

This charming book comes in three formats:
Sheron and OIC Books have made a copy available to my readers and so I will have a giveaway (my first) for a print copy of this book, signed by Sheron and Chula!  To enter, just make a comment here on my blog today.  Each day you make a comment on my daily blog will add another chance to win, and the random drawing will be the evening of Monday, March 19th, announced on Tuesday's post of March 20th.  I will have a post that day of Chula with her happy face in the lavender fields of Provence as she travels "beyond."

I might also mention that Chula has her own Facebook page where readers can keep up with her comings and goings.

Métro, Boulot, Dodo....

Métro, boulot, dodo.... C'est lundi encore!

Monday again and it seemed a good day to post the routine... For me, it is the gym, my office (upstairs), lunch with my DH, work, etc.... How about you?

Don't you wish you were stopping off with your petit chien for a chat and the news to start your day like this Parisien?

Driving Miss Daisy -- Reflection

I found this handsome couple waiting on their driver in front
of Place Louis Lépine. With a full assortment of paparazzi
gathered around the convertable, it's possible they are movie stars?

Le Chien I

After lunch in the 17ième arr. we ran into this perky little pooch. His owner was chatting away with a friend on the street while le chien gave me several different poses.

It is no secret that les Parisiens love their dogs and it would be difficult to walk down any trottoir in Paris and not spy at least one "owner on a leash."

Some petits chiens get to ride in chic designer bags. All pups can enjoy déjeuner in the cafés and bistrots.

C'est la belle vie!
