Palais Royal - Pelouse Interdite!

The gorgeous green lawn of the Jardin du Palais Royal

is as beautiful as the greens of the Augusta National Golf Club,

but you would have an easier time receiving permission to walk

on the greens of the Masters than you would the green grass of

many Paris parks and gardens.

I did take a nap on one such forbidden lawn 

in Paris, but that is another story....

to Paris and she always appears the same,

pensive and feeding the pigeons

The fountain is at the heart of 

Jardin du Palais Royal.

I have seen it in every season and in every month,

and it is always a changing panorama.

Once, it was even frozen over with children throwing

chunks of ice!

Look for me there on Friday as I feel

the limestone crunch beneath my feet

and gaze down the alleys of trees.

and the warmth soaking to the skin

if she would have noticed the green shrubs,

the purple iris, the roses, and...

the overabundance of pigeons!

The lovely fountain was sealed in ice - December 2010

The red and white rope was a signal to stay out of the fountain,

a suggestion lost on these young boys.

I hope that Paris did not get that cold this year, 

but regardless, we will all be glad to see winter go.

The Gates of Palais Royal

These gold spears on the gates 

must receive a coat of paint each year

as they always look as if they are solid gold

Oh, they do close and lock the gates each

evening so do not fall asleep on one of the benches or

you may be forced to spend the night

The gold of the wrought iron fencing and the lamps 

are easy clues to the location of this photo

One of my favorite spots for photographing...

the architecture, the seasons, the light and shadows, 

the fountains, the allée of trees, the flaneurs, the people.

It is also a great spot to find a quiet place to read 

or to watch people.

L'automne - Jardin du Palais Royal

Autumn in Paris

The deciduous trees of Paris will shed their leaves 

over the next few months.

Although the weather was sunny and warm during our time in Paris, 

the leaves are dropping as seen in this photo of Jardin du Palais Royal.  

We were a bit disappointed that the fountain was turned off.
