Église Saint-Paul Saint-Louis - la porte rouge

2013 Nov22 Paris _20131122 260 DSC_2934

The red door

The renovations at this nearly 400-year-old church
have made a remarkable difference in its presence on Rue Saint Antoine.
The former door was a deep gray-maroon
and lost in the dark pollution-stained surrounding structure.

The interior has likewise been restored and repaired.

bon dimanche

Beautiful entrance.

Une couleur qui redevient à la mode après avoir longtemps été considérée comme "vulgaire". Il faut dire qu'elle a longtemps été associée aux lieux de débauche.

We once had an apartment only a few steps from here. Love the door treatment.

If you readers could see a "before" photo, they would appreciate this even more.

I was so thrilled to find this church all spruced up since I had last seen it—and they chose a perfect color for the doors, didn't they?
