Le Carrousel de Nogent - Carrousel XXIII

Just outside of Paris in Nogent-sur-Marne is this enclosed carousel
which I featured almost two years ago here
The enclosure allows this merry-go-round confection
to be enjoyed in all seasons with seating both inside and out.

I will have to return to get a closer photo of the spaceship
and the old cars in their counter clockwise rotation.

My blog friend and artist Shell Sheree has a lovely interpretation of this carousel
and I encourage you to visit and see her ink and watercolor selections.

I love merry-go-rounds!! When I was a little girl I wanted a horse so much and I loved the carnivals that came to the small town where I was raised because I could ride a HORSE!!! It didn't matter that it was just around and round in a circle and that it wasn't a real horse -- it was real enough for me! Thanks for the fun memories, Genie!

What a great looking carousel! Isabella would love to have a ride on this! She loves the one at the mall and wants to ride it all the time! :)

What a lovely carousel. How nice that it is enclosed for year-around use. As a child my sister and I loved the merry-go-round and she would hang tight and refuse to get off of her horse.

We visit close by at Bry-sur-Marne, the home of my long-time close friend. Next time I'll ask to go to see this charming roundabout.

What a fantastic idea Genie, why not enjoy all year round, in fact sitting on one of these rides with the rain pouring outside would be such fun! there should be more I say. Your friend Sheree is a marvelous artist her interpretation of your image is beautifully whimsical, oh to be so talented oui!

I like your photo and the beautiful drawing.

It's hard to believe that you've had this blog for almost two years. Time sure does fly!

Sam, from what I have seen in Paris, a child can hang on to the ride as long as s/he has tickets. With some carrousels there is quite the competition!

Starman, I am not sure but from this photo it appears that only the center panel of the three-glass sections open.

Sylvia, you would love all the horses I have found on carrousels in Paris!

James, can you believe that I will be having a blog birthday in less than a month!

Priscilla, you really should visit Nogent-sur-Marne to see this picturesque village and lovely homes with gardens. You would like to see the park area and walk along the Marne as well.

Shell, your work is delightful and I am honored that you like my photographs of Paris.

As I seek out the carousels of Paris, I enjoy noting the direction of rotation on these merry-go-rounds. I was surprised to find that one year there was a carousel which rotated one direction and by the next year it was rotating the opposite direction. How could this be??? I will share that story (and photos) with you another time.

Bises,
Genie

What a delightful, beautiful carousel! Perfect for a cold, rainy winter day. We need a few of these in the Pacific Northwest here. That's for sure. :)
