Palais Garnier

At Palais Garnier, home of Opéra de Paris, the Grand Staircase will take your breath away with its opulence. Two larger-than-life gilt statues dominate the entrance to the ampitheatre.

Inaugurated in 1875, the architect of this magnificent building, Charles Garnier, was a previously unknown 35 year-old. I will bring you here again...

Those shoes are incredible! It's true that we seldom look at the feet..I'd like to see who is wearing them!

That foot perfectly represents the grandeur of that place. I look at it and see so many possibilities of printing, framing, size, coloration ... A fantastic shot (of an incredible building!).

Take another look at the shape of the sandal, it looks like it is missing a heel!

Ahh but I wish I could be in Paris!

Malyss -- Oh, I will show you another time... She is very large as you might be able to tell from the feet - hah!

Bibi -- I am sure that you have seen it... It would be interesting to know how many films and photo shoots have taken place on these steps

Richard -- Merci, mon amie... Tu es un maître du détail (un bon sourire)

o2 -- Oui, et c'est presque la saison pour ces chaussures

Suzi -- You can check online to see what is available before you go... merci

Léia -- Oh, but you are so petite that you will need a much smaller size, mon amie!

Cildemer -- Merci, mon amie... je les aime aussi... Attends le prochain. Bisous

Dianne -- There is so much to see there, inside and out!

AA -- So glad that you like it... amazing style for a statue that is about 135 years old - hah!

Carol -- Yes, now that it has been refurbished you will love it.

JM -- Merci... knew that you would like the detail

martine -- Merci... tu es gentille.

Virginia -- Well, I know that you do not need any of this size - hah! Yes, you must go!

Jacqueline -- It does look like it should have a heel in that space. Her left foot is flat and her right leg is turned in and bent at the knee... Merci, mon amie! I wish I was there also, but will be before too long!

Fabulous close-up.

Doing a close-up of this detail was pure genius! Fab photo.

I've been inside, but I never took the grand tour.

A very nice shot, Genie. I am working on taking partial details instead of either complete details or complete subjects (statues, houses, etc.). Leaving things incomplete is a struggle for a personalilty like mine!

You can take me here any time you want, Genie. This place is magical. Back in the day I knew one of the principal dancers at the Paris Opera, and I still regret that I never got to see him perform here—though I did get to dance with him (in addition to dancing Romeo and Prince Siegfried, he also did a mean boogaloo!).

Birdman -- Merci, mon ami

Harriet -- She was so large that I took "bits and pieces" of her... merci!

Starman -- I think that just being inside is worth the trip

Jack -- You take all of those shots and the close ones... then you can decide

Suzanne -- So glad that you like this one!

Alexa -- How exciting, my dear... we definitely need to chat, and I should bring my camera!

Marie -- Glad you love it... we will go there in April

Loree -- Merci, mon amie!

Shelley -- It's a deal, my friend!

Randy -- They would have to be very long jeans!

Rob -- You should select a day with few tourists for you trip (next visit)
