Les Enfants -- Parc de Monceau

Parc de Monceau is one of my favorite spots for strolling and watching people of all ages, children, and pets. It does not matter the season and you know by now that in Paris you just bundle up and brave the cold.

I will have a chance to see a greener (warmer) scene in this lovely park in April!

Ce parc est magnifique au printemps. L'herbe des pelouses sera bien verte, les massifs de fleurs nombreux, et les jeunes mamans promèneront leur bébé dans les allées.
Patiente encore un peu, Genie.
Bonne journée!

I think parks are always such "fun" places.

This is one picture which does not do so well in B&W. But I like the family atmosphere.

Paris in April, what could be better? The best time to visit definitely! In just one week I think I'll be visiting Ladurée at this time :) Have a great day!

Yes it is still chilly here, but children don't bother, they play everywhere.

Children seldom seem to notice the cold when they have interesting things to do......and the B/W enhances the feeling of chill.
Hopefully by April, Spring will be well on it's way!
Best wishes.Rx.

This photograph reminds of an ephemeral scene in one of Simon Van Booy's stories in The Secret Lives of People in Love, a most lovely read. Have a wonderful day ~ xox Alexandra

Hope you are having a nice and happy week, ma belle****

Ps: Vézelay is 227km from Paris = two hours and a half by car!
And for the train and buses, you can find information here:

So glad that spring is on the way, so that these children can shed their coats and have even more fun. And you'll be there to take more photos.

But I must say that on one trip to Paris in April, it was extremely cold. The next year, a heat wave...one never knows what to expect.

The Parc Monceau is one of my *favorites* in Paris! I adore the columns and little garden follies! Plus there's an excellent art gallery nearby that often features Louise Bourgeois work--or used to.

Parisians make wonderful use of their parks, both large and small. Hope the weather is better for your April holiday!

I've only been inside this park once. Peter and I more or less strolled in one side and out the other. I didn't stop to just people watch. This is such an adorable and oh so Parisian scene!!!

I think the guys who wrote the song "April In Paris", have never been there in April.

I love the photo. There is something so peaceful about it.

Oh my old park! Used to live just in front, rue de Logelbach, back in the eighties. I actually used to run there, with my next door neighbor called Enrico Macias!

My limited experience of parks in Paris are that they are quite civilized places - lovely for everyone to enjoy. People watching is the BEST. April in Paris.... I hear the song now!

Oh, and I like the B&W in this picture - it makes it timeless....

When you have four kids in these ages to survey, for sure that it's nicer to go to a park than to stay in a flat! ... and Parc Monceau is of course a good choice!

What a glorious photograph! I just love it.

Oui, Parc de Monceau is calling our names ... can't wait to see the cute children enjoying that beautiful place. Very nice B&W vignette.

Very nice capture of petits Parisiens adorables, Genie! Haven't been in this park in 40 years—might be time to return. Hope you have perfect weather for your April visit!

And I hope that when you visit the park, Genie, they turn the colors on for you! I'll bet you are counting the days.

Richard -- Il faut que j'aie de la patience... d'accord. (Merci, mon ami)

Miss Sadie -- You would enjoy this park with lots of children to chase

Léia -- This day was not so very cold but I promise you that the bench is cold to the touch... Merci!

Kristin -- Oh, I wish that I was going to be there at the same time... You will have to tell me about your adventures when you return, mon amie!

Gunn -- Many thanks...

biebkriebels -- The children have a special internal thermostat that keeps them warm... plus, they keep running and moving

R -- I expect that we will have some cold (by my southern standard) days but I think that there will be evidences of springs arrival - yay!

Alexandra -- I will have to look up that book... sounds like a good curl up on the couch kind of book

Cildemer -- Merci, and I think that it will be on "the list" again... when you are watching people, this is a great spot! (Thanks for the info)

Harriet -- I think that the French children stay bundled for a very long time into the warmer weather, but I can tell you about that in April!

Lapin Agile -- Ah, and now I've found your blog... Je vous en prie.

Kate -- Oh... you know the saying about a rainy day in Paris... (who cares anyway) - hah! You need a break. Come on.

Virginia -- merci, mon amie

Happy -- Glad that you like the b/w... sometimes I have a hard time choosing when the colors are so nice. I could have gone either way with this one. (Thanks for your comment and welcome!)

Starman -- Layers of clothing is the answer plus un parapluie!

Loree -- Merci, mon amie

Rob -- How lucky you are to have those memories and experiences... wonderful!

Kelley -- I agree with the "timeless" assessment as it seemed that way to me also... Merci!

Peter -- You have documented this park so very well... Merci, and I'll see you in April

Randy -- So glad, my friend

Marie -- Yes, and I know a perfect place for lunch! Merci.

Alexa -- I think you should check it out when you are there. It is small enough to cover and plenty to see.

Jack -- I hope so as well... Surely there will be green and buds at least... un, deux, trois, etc......

Oh, Genie. I don't chase children, I just play with them. Chasing children can be very frightening for those children. I let them chase me, and pet me when they "catch" me!

Halcyon said...

Ah yes... you know then of the oddities of this park. The waterfall, the pyramids, the fake columns... a fun place! :)

James said...

What a wonderful shot! I remember walking by but I don't think I have been in this park.

Genie -- Paris and Beyond said...

Miss Sadie -- Oh, certainly, my sweet. I really should have said "chase around with children" as you would certainly never want to scare a child or adult, gentle soul. Please accept my heartfelt apologies...

Halcyon -- Yes, and some of the monuments look like they have been there for centuries - hah!

James -- It is an easy park to see with some interesting sights (Peter did a post on this park)
