Artist on the Seine - Paris Friend

We met this Paris friend on a Sunday afternoon as we were walking along the Seine. She was painting when we found her and after a little chat we made a purchase, the very best type of souvenir!

I agree - I would love a painting of Paris - especially painted by a local such as this -- how perfect

Awesome photo! Where was she when we were in Paris? We began collecting small water color prints from cities we visit. We couldn't find anyone selling for Paris.

She has such a sweet look! Did you but the painting she has in her hand?

Nice portrait, Genie!

Une vraie artiste! J'aime son chapeau 1920 qui la personnalise. Elle est aquarelliste mais ne semble pas Française.
Ah, Paris et toutes ses merveilles!...
Bon week-end, Genie!

I too have bought watercolors from an artist on one of the bridges. It is framed and showcased in my living room now. Exciting news: I am coming back to Paris in less than 8 weeks!

She is wearing a great hat. A fine portrait, Genie, and I do hope that you will show us your purchase, too. Have a great week-end!

Her hat and coat are gorgeous. Only in Paris would a street artist be dressed so lovely. And her smile! Beautiful!

The very best souvenir! Isn't it amazing how a photographer can capture such a simple image that draws one into the moment? I studied this picture for quite a while, so interesting!

I see a bit of a young Fay Dunaway and Robin Wright(Penn) in her. Lovely shot! When are you going back to Paris?

Another lovely portrait, Genie! As Aesthetic Alterations noted, this lovely young woman is not dressed the way we might expect a street artist to be. But, of course this is Paris! Looove that chapeau.
(My WV is dessin!)

She is beautiful and she paints too; magnifique.

Buying artwork directly from the artist gives you an even stronger connection to the piece, doesn't it? Nice image, Genie. Your public is clamoring to see the work.

I'm with Jack about buying directly from the artist. There is a bond.

Please give up more details about your "find"!

Randy -- I will see if I can get a photo of it as it was a gift to my other daughter who has also been to Paris

Suzi -- I always buy local art (on the street) in foreign cities... My favorite happens to be a pair of paintings that I bought at a street fair in Buenos Aires. They hang in my dining room.

rob -- See above to Suzi... You can go to Montmartre but I have found local art in the area of the bouquinistes along the Seine.

o2 -- She really did have a classic look and yes, I did buy that particular painting... She only had a few and was selling them almost as she finished

Andy -- Merci, mon ami

Richard -- Ah, c'est possible mais pour les touristes comme moi son oeuvre est parfait. Merci, mon ami!

Malyss -- I think that it did look a bit like the 20s and she was quite sweet to talk to... Merci, my friend!

SRQ -- Thanks... the very best souvenirs and they fit flat in a suitcase (carry-on)

Elizabeth -- What exciting news you have... I will be there in April but I think that you and I might just miss each other... We'll share stories later

martine -- Tes mots sont merveilles... merci beaucoup!

Birdman -- Thank you kindly, my friend

Kate -- I will see if a can get a photo from Lauren

AA -- I agree with your observations about her attire. She just seemed so pert and chic as she sat painting along the Seine. Merci!

Liz -- I am still drawn into that moment for the same reasons as you... much activity along the Seine with a certain ambiance.. Merci!

Nadege -- I will be back on April 11th -- yay! Merci

Alexa -- I think that her attire is quite chic but the chapeau sets the scene here...

Karena -- I think that her hat is lined for warmth but so very stylish... merci

Diane -- It is indeed, my friend.

biebkriebels -- She has a smile that covers her face... very engaging artist!

Starman -- Thank you for your kind comments, my friend

Jack -- When I said earlier that I buy art pieces for souvenirs, I should have clarified as you just reminded me that I buy directly from the artist whether it is a painting, a hand-made box, jewelry, a glass object, etc. I always take a photo of the artist.

Miss Sadie -- I agree about the bond... I would like to run into this artist again to give her a copy of this photo. I have watercolors of Prague and Vienna and Burano which all work well together framed. I never regret buying a painting on the streets like this.

Bibi -- I love the whole stylish look also!

Marie -- We will search for her in April
