Galerie d'Art

As Holly and I were walking wearily back to our apartment in December, we found this chic art gallery on Rue Saint-Honoré...

Although I am not a window stylist, do you not think that this nude would have "presented" better had it been placed in front of the wall on the right rather than the wall on the left? I'm just saying....

Ah, c'est Paris!

Ha, yes, she would do well in another 'position'. Thought you'd get a kick out of a similar one of mine right here.

:).. I must admit that my eyes were more attracted by the other woman, on the top ,on the right. She makes me think of Jane Austen's times.

Genie... I would say you got mooned.

Bibi -- Love that one and it almost looks like a Norman Rockwell scene

Malyss -- That portrait is lovely and if you notice the one below it is advertising a portrait from a photograph...

Andy -- C'est Paris!

Mais elle est reubensesque, je pense.

I have to admit that my eyes stopped at the portraits.
interesting place, and I am pleased you stopped and took the photo!:)

I think that would depend on what beauty is in the eye of the beholder :-) I like the variety of styles -- and the way they paintings are in no particular order -- it really makes me want to go and look through them.

Whoever said wide hips aren't beautiful...just necessary to see them through an artist's eyes!

Speaking of rue-Saint-Honoré:
Saint-Honoré is the patron saint of bakers and confectioners. Thus the making of un gâteau-Saint-Honoré is often the final exam for graduating pâtissers. It is a tough final because the making of un gâteau-Saint-Honoré requires several disciplines and very good time management skills. Saint-Honoré was the bishop of Amiens in the 6th century and by the time of Louis Quatorze had become the patron saint of bakers and confectioners.

You are so right. Like that, those fesses are really in your face! Love the jumble of stuff here, and your portrait of portraits. :~}

Oui c'est vrai ! but my gaze is also more attracted by the nude in the back... :-)

What beautiful paintings. Maybe the nude was too large for that wall? Or maybe not. I suppose both wals would be the same size wouldn't they? I guess I'm too tired to think tonight :)

Bergson -- Bien sûr

Miss Sadie -- I believe that you are right

Gunn -- The portraits look quite old although at least one of them is new work

Marie -- Very interesting gallery with varied styles and ages, some old and some new...

Shari -- Exactly, my deer!

Virginia -- A little something for everyone!

Harriet -- The nude is a nice piece of art and as Miss Sadie said, a bit rubenesque

Louis -- Being an amateur baker of macarons that is very interesting

Alexa -- Merci, it is a jumble indeed and displayed in a casual offhand manner

Amanda -- Indeed, no buts about it (no pun intended here either - hah!)

Lala -- You and Virginia are quite observant -- fine art both of them

Loree -- Look again tomorrow and think about the perspective of the reclining nude... How would it look from the window had it been positioned on the right-hand wall?

I am still laughing! Glad that a woman made that observation. If I had said it, I would have been crucified.

Funny my eye was drawn to the flowers down below. I also like the painting of the photo.

Jack -- It did point out to me that either the shop was haphazard in its regard to display or it is only noticed by up-tight Americans/Canadians... hummmm

Randy -- I would stick to that story...

But this is Ali Baba's Cave you found here ! And I see above the painting on the right, there's a little note : "you can order a Portrait from a photo".
