Paris, city of light

At the corner of Rue Rambuteau and Rue du Temple, near Centre Georges Pompidou, the streets are decked with lights

I wish more cities (like mine) would create "passages" of lights like this. It's so festive and pretty. That said - not sure I'd like to have my bedroom window at eye level with all those lights! :-)

I love this too. I"ve not seen this particular design, that's what makes it even more fun, they're are not the same all over the city!

when paris lights up at a night like this, it's breathtaking. even with all the hustle and bustle, it's still beautiful to look at. ^0^

We have lights something like those here in Brooklyn. I'll take Paris, please. Sigh.

Bibi -- Paris is always good... wish I could be there in Feb also!

Malyss -- J'adore les lumières de noël. Je crois que tu as raison et celles-ci donnent une impression de reflets. (Est-ce que je ai donné la réponse juste?) Encore en français de temps en temps.

Holly -- The little streets are very much like small US towns with their own version of festive lights, oui?

Léia -- Moi aussi, and I will be on "the hunt" with my camera in just a day or two.

Virginia -- I will attempt to get to some that I have not seen before.

Starman -- C'est vrai! And I have never seen snow in Paris so it will be a first!

Arabesque -- I am always reminding myself to "look up" so as not to miss those spectacular things above your head. Thanks for stopping by here.

James -- Oh, I totally agree and am fascinated by all the different arrangements of lights... I am just a kid at heart!

Lovely street decorations!!!

Loree -- Oh, you can count on it as I have already announced to my travelin' sister that we must go!

Alexa -- I think that I saw the lights in Brooklyn as a child. Come and go with me... don't unpack from Italy. Just grab a warm coat!

Picturit -- I hope that you do too! The only way that we will have a white Christmas on the Gulf Coast of the US is if the truck transporting cotton has a wreck and spills it all!

Chieftess -- I will be snapping some more of these in a few days! Merci...

Halcyon -- Moi aussi, particularly in small towns which have had the decorations since the 50s!

Amanda -- I agree and I am much like a child "ooing and ahing" over the lights!

Cildemer -- Merci et bon mardi à toi aussi!

When it comes to decorations, Parisians do not take the matter lightly. Especially when considering the heaviness of the lights. I suppose the underlying motto is, "You can't have too many lights!"

Très jolie.

Ah yes, I remember. Paris is always the place to be in December! If only London could measure up!

Genie -- Paris and Beyond said...

Randy -- it has put me in the mood for sure!

Phivos -- Merci, and I hope that you will come back often!

Bear -- I think you have it right on the excess of lights for the holidays.

Gringo -- Now, I have not been to London in December, but I would be surprised if you told me there were not as many festive decorations.
