Tabac - Cherche Midi Presse

A tabac is licensed to sell tobacco products
as well as newspapers and stamps.

Apparently it is good to have a friend along
to spend the day greeting customers.

Le Centaure

Le Centaure

This large bronze sculpture represents the mythical centaur
with the body of a horse and the bust of a man.

It was created in 1985 by the French artist César Baldaccini
(called simply César) and sits in the small place Michel Debré
at the intersection of Rue du Cherche-Midi and Rue de Sèvres.

Interestingly, the artist placed his face
as the head of this strange sculpture

Rue du Cherche-Midi

Between the windows on the premier étage (first floor above the street)
is this charming piece of architectural detail.
The plaque says simply "au cherche-midi"

19, rue du Cherche-Midi is a few steps away
from Poilane the reknown bakery.
The street traces the route of an old Roman road
and is situated in one of Paris' most sought-after residential neighborhoods
with its 18th and 19th century homes.

Rue du Cherche Midi - un balcon

Rue du Cherche Midi
a balcony

Plants, flowers, clay planters, espaliered tree,
Greek key wrought iron, dart and egg architectural detail,
soft color contrasts...

Yes, I could live here.
What about you?

A light dinner

If I had easy access to this simple fare at home,
it would be a regular evening meal.
When it was cold and drizzling and we had already walked many miles,
this scene around our apartment table was a favorite of mine...

-food, wine, and great friends-
the laughter was abundant

(Thank you Alexa and Virginia)
