Rue d'Ulm - l'architecture

I am at a loss to explain and unable to identify this sculpture
found above a door on Rue d'Ulm.

The letters are "ensdad"
There are several schools in this area south of the Parthenon.

Any ideas or facts?

Paris, en noir et blanc

I wish that there were special glasses you could wear that would give you this view of old Paris without the graffiti and bright posters for teaching English... Just take me back in history. I will go to one of Hemingway's old haunts and look for writers and artists.

Galeries Lafayette

Taken in December 2009, the neo-Byzantine stained glass cupola of Galeries Lafayette becomes the "theatre of the holiday season" with a multi-storied display. Each year's design seems to out-do the previous, and I am anxious to return to see what les grands magasins have in store for 2010!

Galeries Lafayette's Haussmann Boulevard is Belle Epoque architecture modeled after a mideastern bazaar. Although this photo is looking from the bottom floor up (rez de chaussée), Laurent of Daily Photo in Paris has a wonderful view looking down from le troisième étage.

Art Deco Reflection

The intricate ironwork door at 29 Boulevard de Courcelles is only one section of this beautiful building with its curved balconies and floor to ceiling windows. It is just a few steps from Monceau Fleurs. Très chic.
