Bercy Village - Cour St. Émilion

2012 Mar 27 Paris_035DSC_4149

Cour Saint-Émilion

Bercy Village consists largely of small wine warehouses from the late 19th century.  The tracks seen in the paved courtyard above were originally used to transport barrels of wine in and out of the warehouses.  For more than a century and up until 1960, the Bercy neighborhood was a vast wine market.

Although some may complain that this has become a tourist attraction with its shops, bars, and restaurants, the architecture has been preserved (along with the rail tracks), and it has the feel of a historic village.  It is at the southeast end of Le Parc de Bercy and is easily accessed by Line 14, Métro Cour St. Émilion.

Shhhh!!! Don't tell anyone, Genie. Bercy Village is still not as widely visited by the "international clientèle" as other areas in Paris... :-) I love it there, especially the park behind the boutiques. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

We loved Cour St. Émilion. We had a great lunch there and always meant to return but somehow never got around to it. This is a great photo!

Sympa pour aller au resto avec des enfants. On peut aussi se balader dans le parc qui borde la Seine. Quand j'étais à Paris, on y voyait un héron, je ne sais pas s'il est toujours là.

Sometimes it is the tourists that allow a beautiful spot like this to thrive. Great depth to this shot Genie.

Would love to stroll under the canvas shade and admire the quaint warehouse buildings (after a lovely repast at one of the restaurants, of course)! Lovely photo,

I would think that not too many tourists venture this far afield. You, of course, are not a tourist, and so . . . (Loved your shots from the past couple of days. When I'm slammed with work, I do always go back to see what you've been up to.)

Bercy Village is on my list for quite some while. I hope to finally make it there in July.
