Hôtel du Nord - IV

Hôtel du Nord is one of my favorite restaurants
with a neighborhood setting along Canal St. Martin.

On our last night in Paris this April,
my husband and I enjoyed the company of dear friend Janeen
and our Paris friend Isabelle.

Leaving Paris is bittersweet, but always holds the promise of trips to come.

Most famous quote in the old French classic "Hotel du Nord," with Arletty and Louis Jouvet: "Atmosphere, Atmosphere: Est-ce que j'ai une gueule d'atmosphere?"-- You've got to watch it Genie. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

An exquisite place for one's lasts meal in Paris. Trop cher, je pense, mais pour le dîner final à Paris, c'est très bien!

Hello Genie:
Exactly our kind of restaurant from the plain white tablecloths, the starched napkins to, in contrast, the scrubbed wooden floor and the plain, simple furnishings.

And we imagine that the food is delicious too.

I love seeing restaurants and cafes like this, in a state of calm and prepared expectancy. The light is beautiful, too, Genie.

I´ve never been to the Hôtel du Nord, but it looks very nice. And you are soooo right: Leaving Paris is always bittersweet.

It's one of my favorites too but believe it or not, I didn't bring my camera the night we went!!! What was I thinking???? And as for leaving Paris? I don't want to talk about it.

What a lovely place to spend a last night.. (or any night) in Paris! Such sparkling atmosphere. What light! You must be 'homesick' for Paris often, Genie?

What a great choice for your "until next time" dinner in Paris. Your shot makes me feel like I'm right there (I wish!).

Is that you? Love the atmosphere, is there dancing?

Veronique and Bibi, I know of the movie and really must watch it soon.

This dining area is up three steps from the bar area and is just as cozy and romantic as the photo shows. I did not see any dancing, but perhaps on certain evenings? I am not sure.

This restaurant typifies la vie quotidienne to me. If I lived in Paris this would be my "special evening place with friends." Alons-y!

Bises,
Genie
