Louvre -- Le Carrousel du Louvre

Le Carrousel du Louvre

What looks to be a fashionable mall is a corridor to the least-crowded entrance into the Louvre.  You can buy tickets at the Tabac on the lower level and quickly enter - no lines and no waiting!

To get there take Metro Line 1 and exit at the Palais Royal--Musee du Louvre station, and never leave the covered area going from one underground area to the next.  Just follow the signs to Carrousel du Louvre.

In the distance you can see the Pyramid

Un espace très dépouillé. Je préfère entrer par la pyramide, même s'il faut attendre un peu.

The soft, glowing, creamy color makes me just want to melt into this photo! Love this "secret" entrance!

One of these days! :)

Do you ever feel sorry for the folks who are waiting on a long line for the main entrance upstairs? (I do, but not enough to tell them about a better way in!) Great shot (as always), Genie --

This is unexpected, Genie. I always think of the Louvre as a mass of humanity.

I wonder if that was the side entrance we found so many years ago.

The word is out about that entrance I think. We were there in June, not trying to go in to the Louvre that day, and it was totally packed with a queue going way down the shopping centre.
