Hello Genie: This is indeed a superb image and one which confirms that so very often black and white photography can, and does, steal a march on colour.
What is so appealing here is the look of determination which we glimpse on the face combined with a steadfast expression. Wonderful.

This child with her parent close by was full of life and laughter. This was one of my favorite photos for the look of intensity on her face... She rules the world!
