La patineuse artistique

In the bright midday sun of January,
the ice skaters moved around the temporary ice rink in front of Hôtel de Ville.

This young woman was in a world of her own
as she gracefully made her turns, jumps and spins.

What a terrific capture, Genie! And she is indeed in a world of her own -- sometimes our own world is the very best place to be! Hope your week is going well!

Lovely! We were at that rink last year but all we saw were kids falling over. Much prefer your view!

I used to ice skate in my youth. I remember being taken to the rink at about ten and having lots of fun slipping and sliding. Stability eventually kicked in and the grasp on the side rails relaxed. We used to race around the rink and career into the fence. Nothing artistic just lots of energy and great fun. Thanks for bringing back fond memories with your photo, Genie.

Lovely shot. She looks so poised and beautiful. Quite the opposite to me on ice skates!

She really was elegant and fun to watch, and quite advanced too - some of those spins were amazing!

I wasn't this lucky! There were only two girls rolling a hoola hoop on the ice. This young girl is so very graceful.

Great photo! I love watching professional skaters. They twirl and turn and jump so effortlessly. It is a pleasure to watch them.

I live to watch skaters, since I cannot skate. Keeps her fit, that's for sure.

She seems free.

Excellent capture.

She almost floated above the ice and seemed to move effortlessly through the shuffling, wobbling skaters. She defied gravity and appeared weightless almost unaware of the admiring crowd of onlookers.

Glad that I was there to capture this.
