While on a pâtisserie hunt in December during a soft snowstorm, we happened upon this beautiful old door with this interesting door-knocker. If I have 500 photos of café chairs, then I have 1,000 doors in Paris. Based on our June trip last year, I think that mon amie Marie has that many photos of blue doors alone... perfect!
Oh, and we found that little pâtisserie which I will show you tomorrow.

Cynthia -- A "not pretty" door in Paris beats a nice one most any place else. (Did I mention that I am a die-hard Francophile?) Seriously, so many of the ordinary doors in Paris open to hidden courtyards and/or entryways

Marie -- Yes, you do have quite a collection and there are many, many shades of blue crypt doors in Père Lachaise.
Hariett -- I did wonder about the age of this door knocker and whether it was a restored original or a very nice reproduction. Still, it is "old" by our American standards and lovely all the same!
I always take a million photos of doors whenever I am in Paris too! They have such character.
I'm glad the lion is on the door. He looks pretty fierce. I'd hate to be that close to him in real life! (I wouldn't want to be his lunch.)

Genie -- I love architectural details and this lion is lovely. I don't think it matters if it is old or new-ish. What matters is the mood and effect it stimulates.
Indeed, one could devote a blog just to Paris doors. When «Louis» lived in Paris, he started a photo collection of them.
Jack -- I think you are right... It was beautiful and striking when I shot it and it is not quite proper to over-analyze... I think I do that quite often (hehe)
Louis -- Well, it would be interesting to see how many beautiful, blue, red, black, unusual, Art Deco, etc doors we have... and how many duplicates or triplicates we would have.
