Musée du Louvre - le reflet

Musée du Louvre

The sharp lines and edges of the 'pyramid du Louvre' form
an eye-deceiving reflection of the buildings and the blue sky.

Classic architecture transformed into
shards of an eclectic puzzle

Paris Pâtisserie

Strawberries, raspberries, and cream

What I have concluded about Paris pâtisseries
is that what you see in the windows and
display cases tastes as delicious as
it looks
miam-miam!

La Tour Eiffel

Do you know that the tower is painted every
seven years and that it costs over $5,000,000 to do it?

It is all painted by hand with paintbrushes,
and although the color may change every seven years,
there are actually three colors with the darkest shade on the
bottom and the lightest on the top.

Cimetière de Montrouge

Cimetière de Montrouge

The porcelain funerary flowers are probably the work of
Céramiques de France in Béthune with origins in the mid-nineteenth century.
This grave tells the story of a brave aviator Maurice Arnoux (7 September 1895 – 6 June 1940) who was a World War I flying ace credited with five aerial victories. He returned to flying fighter planes during the early days of World War II and died fighting for France.

The high polish of the marble reflects the
words of remembrance and honor.

L'arbre hanté?

Haunted Tree?

This tree in Parc Montsouris
seemed almost alive with
its undulating surface.

I am not sure that I would have been
sitting in the same spot at monsieur here.
We hurried along before a branch reached out
and tapped him on the shoulder

City Daily Photo Theme Day - "Abandoned"

Jardin des Tuileries
"Abandoned"

If you are not familiar with this popular and historied Paris garden
the photo above might appear as just a "park photo."
This shot was made on the day after the November 13, 2015
terrorist attacks.

On this beautiful, crisp November Saturday, the
garden was closed, an eerie sight.  On a typical weekend,
you would not see any empty green chairs, and the paths would be
filled with families, children, couples, and people enjoying life.

Palais Royal - Pelouse Interdite!

The gorgeous green lawn of the Jardin du Palais Royal
is as beautiful as the greens of the Augusta National Golf Club,
but you would have an easier time receiving permission to walk
on the greens of the Masters than you would the green grass of
many Paris parks and gardens.

I did take a nap on one such forbidden lawn
in Paris, but that is another story....

Le Grand Chat de la rue

"the big cat of the street"

Guarding this restaurant window on le premier étage
is this realistic and muscular feline.
As you look up from the street you can feel his stare.

I wonder if he chose this spot for the poissons et fruits de mer
(fish and seafood) featured on the restaurant menu.

This oval room is quiet as it should be for reading...
No photos allowed!
