Des oranges et des fraises

Oranges and strawberries

This fruit was as delicious as it looked.  The strawberries had that just-picked look and taste, but the oranges, oh my!  They were an explosion of a perfect mix of sweet and tart in your mouth.

We had a group of friends in for an early evening at our favorite apartment on St. Roch.  We devoured all the fruit as well as the radishes, baguettes, saucisson sec....

Eat well this week!

Rue Saint Roch - ma rue à Paris

Rue Saint Roch
my street in Paris

This is undoubtedly one of the smallest of café terraces with seating for six.
Rue Saint Roch runs between Rue de Rivoli
and Avenue de l'Opéra, a single-lane, one-way street.

From my residence of choice in Paris, I can look (hang) out of the large windows
and watch the school children marching their way to Jardin des Tuileries,
gaze on the large stained glass windows of Église Saint-Roch,
or, in warm weather, observe the wonderful food selections on the terrace below.
Often we can hear the music from one or more of the church's three organs.

Just thinking about my street in Paris lightens my mood
and brings a smile to my face.

La tribu des oiseaux

The boutique on Rue Saint Roch offers stylish hats,
but tonight, this fluff of a dress steals the spotlight.

Bonjour, monsieur

This is only a portion of the entryway to Propriété de la Société des Cuisiniers de Paris found on Rue Saint-Roch, just around the corner from Avenue de l'Opéra.  The architect's name is etched into the façade, along with the date:  Bruno Pellissier, arch't. 1917.

Remember to "look up"

Un Chapeau Rose

Walking from our apartment to Jardin des Tuileries is a small boutique of hats. This bright pink with a feather seemed perfectly French to me.

Bon weekend

Église Saint Roch -- un petit musée?

Built in 1653, it was only between 1750 and 1770, that the interior of the Church was completed by top artists: Falconet, Vien, Doyen, Boullée. Today still, this church shelters a great number of works of art, paintings and sculptures, rescued from other churches destroyed during the tumult of the French Revolution. Each one of its inside chapels is a small museum.

Bon dimanche
