Bassin de la Villette - pétanque

Bassin de la Villette

On a Sunday afternoon
you will find many groups of people playing pétanque.
We found a foursome of twenty-somethings
enjoying a game with a man and a woman on each team.

So much for thinking that only
little old French men play pétanque.

Hello Genie:

Old [mostly in our experience] or young, is there anything which more typifies France?

Qui a dit que les femmes le jouaient pas à la pétanque ?

I must brush up on my pétanque Genie. Bon Vivant.

I have only heard of the game through photoblogs. I've never seen it played here, or even mentioned here.

Stereotypical thinking (I'm a bit guilty too). So thanks for showing us that pétanque is alive and well and played by tout le monde!
