Built between 1774 and 1784 by the architect Jean François Chalgrin, this beautiful church is filled with visual treasures. The stained-glass dome with its regal reds and blues is high above the apse.

Hello there, I've just followed you on here. I came across your blog through one of my followers. I've always been intrigued of France and also love your photos. Please follow me so that we can exchange feedback.
Cheers!
Beautiful stained glass. Is it flat on the ceiling or does it sit in a wall? It very regal.
This is lovely, like a huge parasol!
Bon Dimanche Genie.

WOW! Just gorgeous, Genie.
So beautiful...almost like a kaleidoscope.
Brattcat took my comment, HA! It is gorgeous and yet another one I"ve not seen. You and I should do a church tour sometime, but that would mean we would not get to do our jardin/cafe/wine tours! :)

Wow, ten years in the making. I can see why! I bet this stained glass is photographed often. And how long do people stand there with their heads up and their necks cranked back? Are there many chiropractors in Paris?
What a spectacular piece of art. It is just so vivid
How absolutely breathtaking! It just confirms my belief that you should walk into whichever church you walk past in Paris- otherwise you'll never know what you missed. I probably walked past this church last visit, and look what I missed! Stunning.
Spec-tac-u-lar!!!! Imagine the craftsmanship and artistry that went into that--wow.
L'Église Saint Philippe du Roule, est en effet magnifique!
bon dimanche Genie.

Mind you, it's not Chartres, but it is lovely. This is one church we missed during our extensive 'pilgrimages' in the early 90s to French Gothic [and some Romanesque] cathedrals of the 12th & 13th centuries. Sigh-- some of our best vacations of all time -- how we envy your long sojourn in Paris!
Wow awesome great colours must have took an age to make.
When I first glanced at this picture, I thought it was Galeries Lafayette.
In a word...STUNNING!!! I am in awe of the craftsmanship in pieces such as this...
Just lovely!!!
wv: cathypop...just glad it didn't say cathypoop!!!
I agree with brattcat it does look like a beautiful kaleidoscope!
Awesome dome; beautiful picture.
Bon dimanche, aussi.

Absolutely stunning! And perfectly captured by you.
Amazing, Genie. Not much more to say. Amazing.
So. Beautiful. Exquisitely so. I don't recall ever having visited this church. I shall have to add it to my ever-growing list!
Genie, how in the world did I miss this... Breathtaking!

Penny
