French Girl - VI

Seen in April waiting for the doors of Printemps to open... Is she?

Printemps at
Rue de Caumartin

My dear friend, and wonderful artist, Shell Sheree has created a lovely interpretation of one of my Paris photos seen here. Virginia named the kitty "Meeps" for her sweet baby.

Merci, ma chère Shell!

What an outfit. How does she walk in those shoes. She certainly doesn't look very French (think chic) from this view.

Just looking at her shoes that day made my feet hurt! My vote then, and now, is "not French" -- but trying really hard to look French (and not quite making it)!

Fashion, but I imagine the shoes are not comfortable at all! :)

It makes me think of a famous advertising: "look at my eyes; I said My eyes!":o)

I'm just wondering whether wearing tight jeans like these can be harmful for one's health? She must work up quite a sweat just getting them on or taking them off! hehe.
Bonjour! from Montreal.

I'm voting non. I think she's trying too hard. The shoes look like they were orginally worn with a really bad bridesmaid's dress! :)

How? Why? do they do it??? Too tight pants and the shoes made my feet and legs hurt just looking at the photo and what a great one it is, Genie! Love Shell Sheree's watercolor! Beautiful!

Difficult conundrum. Would tourist wait for the Printemps doors to open? The paper bag is a Mango bag .. the Mango stores are all over Europe but is Mango originally not a Spanish brand? I have seen similar shoes worn by Spanish girls.. my vote would swing south of Paris .. but to be honest, I have no clue

Fear not one and all...the pants are stretchy!!! They're actually much more comfortable than you'd think!!!

The shoes on the other hand...not on my feet anymore!!!

French? Non...not quite put together enough!!!

Not so sure she's French. The shoes are lovely but not for shopping. I would not get anything done in them.

My daughter has stretchy jeans—but she has the figure for them (and wears them with boots, NOT satin stilettos!). I say probably not French. If she were, this early in the day her jacket would not be wrinkled. Wow, when did I get to be so judgmental?? (Sorry, Mademoiselle, whoever—and whatever— you are!)

I just saw your pictures and will play the game. This girl could be French, as Martinique and Guadeloupe are considered France too (looking at her feet.) She is not Parisian.

I was just reading an article with statistics for Paris. 15% of the population of Paris is made of foreigners, then there are people from the Provinces and outremer, then foreign students, foreign workers (embassies, etc.) They also had the proportion by arrondissements – some areas of Paris were up 35 to 40 % foreigners – same around the grands magasins where you have to also add all the visitors from Europe and tourists. When a picture is taken of someone in Paris very often that person is not even French. I remember another blogger taking pictures in Paris of people and they were obviously from North Africa not Parisians as she thought. As for that girl – my vote is that she is from Francophone Africa or Martinique or Guadeloupe. While in Paris I heard many accents in the French spoken, many from way out of Paris. Another funny thing – many of the best dressed women were from Russia or Italy, not even Paris.

Those shoes don't strike me as Parisian with that outfit (perhaps with LBD at night). At the cut of the jeans aren't right. I am thinking not Parisian. This was fun.

I started to chime in earlier in the day but loved reading all of the ideas and guesses. Obviously, I do not know as I was in "stealth mode" taking that shot (just before entering a church, ahem...)

Virginia was the funniest with the "dyed satin shoes to match a really bad bridesmaid's dress!" Vagabond probably came the closest to explaining the details of the women you see in Paris. All of you noted that the outfit was not quite right. I would have to agree that she is not a native Parisian but probably lives in Paris now. Vagabond? Martinique is a great guess.

I am still jealous because she lives in Paris...

I really don't mind one way or another. The important thing is that she gave you an opportunity for a "stealth" photo.

Love the painting,,,very nice and such a compliment!

Time slips away; I'm amazed at how many recent photos I've missed. Will have to go back now to see!

No jaa.. not look a Paris-girl. Maybe someone from counryside and she think to be chic like that. Or she has new shoes, and she like to keep them on everywere. :)

I love her skinny-stretchy jeans, but the shoes don´t go well with the outfit. Did she wear a scarf?

That right heel looks a little wobbly.

I'd guess English, or even Irish.

Gosh!
I hope she had done most of her shopping, and could go back home and relax.
