Hôtel de Béthune-Sully

The Orangerie
or second courtyard

The Hôtel de Béthune-Sully is a hôtel particulier, a private mansion,
in the Louis XIII style, located in the Marais.
If you enter from Rue Saint-Antoine and walk through the first paved courtyard,
you will enter the formal garden of this 17th century home.

On this bright day we found a pleasing arrangement of architectural details,
a blue sky, and a fading contrail.

Le chat roux - III

So, the mystery is solved...

In a very life-like pounce le chat roux is going after the birds on the next window ledge.
I feel certain that they all escape, leaving the adventure for another day.

Rue Crémieux is a short walking street of two-story houses facing each other.
The colors and tromp l'oeil such as seen here are abundant.

Le chat roux which I showed you last week lives on this storybook street also.  Do you think he was the model for ce chat roux qui se jette sur les oiseaux*?

Paris en hiver... Jardin des Tuileries

In December the Jardin des Tuileries was full of people braving the frigid weather. This photo was taken on the west end of the garden and you can see the Musée de l'Orangerie in the background. In posting this photo I could not decide between the color shot above or the black and white below. It seemed that there was barely any color at all in the top one... Which do you prefer, or neither?
