Église Saint-Eustache

Église Saint-Eustache

Built between 1532 and 1632, Saint-Eustache is a marvel of
French Gothic architecture with Renaissance and Classical details.

Although it seems dark in the "short days" of November and December,
it is a photographer's delight to catch it on a sunny day with diffused light and shadows.

Église Saint-Eustache - les chaises

Église Saint-Eustache

Long shadows in this enormous church...
simple chairs are dwarfed in the cavernous nave

Illumination - Église Saint-Eustache

When you first walk inside this magnificent church you are overwhelmed by her size, but as you take time to discover little details you will appreciate the elegance of her accessories.

Chaises - Église Saint-Eustache

Only three hours of sunshine during a December week... Where would you go for photos as the sun makes its appearance?

I was looking for shadows and think that the empty chairs at St-Eustache made a proper subject. Another photo here.

Église Saint-Eustache

Rays of light filtered through the majestic windows of Saint-Eustache.

During my recent visit to Paris, there were only about three hours of sunlight and shadows... I am glad that I was able to visit St-Eustache during this brief period of filtered light and capture a few photos of this magnificent church.
